Layouts Posted

I've been reading this group for awhile now, and seeing everyone elses WONDERFUL work, and getting ideas, and learning new things, and FINALLY I've had a chance to do a few layouts recently, thanks especially to Melissa who has let me work on her great grandmother's album.

Earlier this week we spent 3 nights in a row working on it (We were up too late each night - but what fun!) and I made sure to take pics.

So - I apologize that the quality of the pics of the LO's arent' that great - couldn't get the lighting right (although I think it kind of adds a "sepia" quality) but you should get the gist.

So - if you get a chance - please take a peek at my LO's at

Hi Jessica :)

I would love to have a look at your LO's, but I think you posted the link where you edit your LO's. The link should look something like this :

But with your own username of course :) Looking forward to seeing them.

I'll knock on her door and let her know. So she can get this fixed sooner rather than later.

Jessica, The LO's are beautiful. I love the journaling spaces you left. 1R is fantastic! What is that around the journaling hearts? fibers?beads? A lot of people don't like to use the originals in their albums, but I do. Where else can they be in such a protected environment? thanks for sharing, Sandy

Thanks Sandy!

Around the hearts in LO 1 R is actually just part of the paper pattern. Those hearts were from a creative memories page completion kit I happened to have. I was glad they worked so well!

Hey, Virginia's great granddaughter here.

Regarding the original images. I did make the executive decision that they were really important to put in the book. Jess and I didn't know exactly how to do it in a protective way and her idea of using the creative memories pages protectors in the manner she did was quite ingenious. I love the look that the book is developing. Our styles complement each other very well and keeps the book from becoming static.

A scrapbook is not only a reflection of the pages within but also of the person who made it, their creativity, their ideas. This is why I wanted to avoid attempting to create a "heritage" album that looks like a heritage album. I didn't want to go buy books and steal great ideas from them. It wouldn't be my heritage reflected within. This book is a gift to my family. Those who live now and those who will be my great grandchildren, etc. Also, as a footnote, because the book does reflect upon the people who made it there will be a Special Thanks for Jessica (with a picture of her) at the end. I promise I'll post the rest of the book somewhere and get them up so you can see my pages as well as get a feeling for what we're doing.

Also, the LO that Jessica indicates as her favorite (the sand) that she'd done so far. It too is mine. I'll try to get her to get another picture of the two pages side by side, it's really an amazing thing to see.

LOL Sandy, I'm with ya on using the original's sister! I do, however, scan each so I have a digital and I use removable adhesive or photo corners for the "antiques" so that they can be removed at a later time if needed. But come on, if you don't use the originals, what happens to them? They sit in a box somewhere and never get seen and I, for one, don't have room to store them AND scrap a copy! :)

So, I just wanted to share with you all that last night my great grandmother Virginia passed. I am so greatful I've been able to work on this book of her life. It keeps her close. Because it's not done in time for her funeral. I think I will send it round-robin to the main family members. Like Jessica said, I scanned all of these images from 1

1/2 inch by 2 inch photos. So I've also created cd's for the 8 family structures beneath Grandma Gee Gee and then when the album is done I thought I'd make a digital cd of the finished pages. And a link to the online scrapbbok. Any comments, ideas, or suggestions regarding these thoughts on the matter. And, finally, thank you for enjoying my greatgrandmother with me. She was 99 years 6 months and 9 days old; a great inspriation. I felt blessed to love her and blessed that my 10 year old son got to know her.

Melissa, my heart goes out to you. I am glad that you got to do this wonderful book about your grandmother. I think you have pretty much covered all the angles when it comes to sharing the album with your loved ones. I will add you and yours and your GG to my prayers.
