Sittch gauge

Dec 15, 2006 4 Replies

In knitting a fitted sweater I found the inches of the back 2" under the measurement it should be although the guage square was perfect, I am going to try larger needles, should this be a problem?

I have always altered the pattern before but a few knitters have told me this works just fine. Are they right with the info.

That can help, or making the next larger size.

If you like the fabric you're knitting now you should alter the pattern. Going up a in needle size will certainly give you a bigger FO, but you may not like the fabric...

This is a silly question but: is the gauge on the sweater back the same as the gauge on the swatch?

Also, if the sweater is 100% wool but not superwash wool, it may be possible to block it larger. Did you wash and block the gauge swatch?
