Still getting things Mirjam)

When I got home from school today, there was a package for me from Mirjam. In it I found a lovely dark dusty rose doily and an olive wood rosary from the Holy Land. I have so many other things to put in my album! The bag which Els wove along with some books she sent me, the cloths and wash from Jan, and the list goes on. Each time something arrives, I am touched again by the kindness of everyone here.

Love and blessings to all of you. Katherine

Oh how nice for you, Katherine! What a lovely gesture, Mirjam! :o)

I have an olive wood rosary that a priest brought back from the Holy Land for my Mom years ago. :o)

Oh, Cher... do you do what my Mom used to do? When there was a special occasion (like my wedding day) and she didn't want it to rain, she would hang the rosary (not the one from the Holy Land) out on the clothesline... and sure enough, the weather would stay perfect. ;o)

- It is 5:06 PM here and just beginning to get dusky... there is a grey cloud floating by up above with a pink rim. It is so pretty!

LOL It didn't sound too bad! ;o)

I still have my mauve coloured glass (I'm assuming) rosary that I was given for my First Holy Communion when I was a little girl. Then I have the olive wood rosary that a priest brought back from the Holy Land for my Mom years ago, and I also have another rosary that is made in gorgeous dark blue stones that shine greenish when the light hits them a certain way... that rosary also belonged to my Mom. There is also a small pink (plastic, I think... or it *looks* like plastic anyway) rosary that someone gave my Mom... that's the one I put on the clothesline when I want the weather to stay nice for a special occasion, like my Mom used to do. ;o)

Over here, I wash my cars. Never fails to rain. Once, after I waxed my classic car, we had a whopper of a hail storm LOL. Marie and the cats

I would love to be able to send you some of our rain. It has been raining for days with no end in sight. It is pretty soggy here - some landslides in nearby areas but none right where we are.

Ahh, well the rosary my Mom put out on the clothesline wasn't the special olive wood one. It was the pink plastic one (can't remember where she got that one from)... so the weather didn't do it any damage at all. In fact that rosary hangs on the key rack just inside the back door. The dark blue gemstone one hangs on the wall above my bed. My mauve glass (or gemstone) one sits in a silver box that a friend gave me many years ago. And the olive wood one is in my safe with other special things. I should get it out and put it on display though... it's such a shame to have it hidden away.

My Dad and his family were Church of England (although my Dad stopped attending church long before I was born... he had been overloaded with religion by his mother and some people he boarded with when he worked on their farm), and my Mom and her family and all of us kids were Roman Catholic (Daddy used to make sure we got to mass every Sunday... he would drive us there if it looked like we would be late)... and I went to the Catholic school. Of course when I went to it we lived on the opposite side of town... and a few months before I graduated and was about to go to highschool (which was one street behind the house I grew up in) we moved just down the street from the Catholic school. I used to joke with my parents that they did that the wrong way about. LOL

*hugs* Gem
