Well it maybe depends on who wrote the Bible, and what knowledge that person had of the countries he/she wrote about. Maybe not everything your read in the Bible is a fact, it is maybe not meant to be taken verbatim, but (Katherine help me out here, I can't remember the word to describe it,) It is maybe meant to describe and allude to the land of plenty or being fruit full etc. It may be a hidden meaning.

It could be, but I don't think it is. There are varieties of apples that can be grown just about everywhere. And the other friuts referred to definitely grow in Biblical lands.

Els, you used the right word. You were referring to the idea that the Bible is not to be taken literally.

Thank you Katherine, that is indeed what I meant. Mirjam would be the one to tells us what kinds of fruits grow in Israel. I have never thought about that, but maybe apples are indeed a temperate climate fruit. I could not do without them. love them indeed
