To those of you who recommended a swift and a ball winder for dealing with those unwieldy hanks of yarn, thanks. I got one of each today, because every yarn that interests me lately seems to come in hanks. the sift and ball winder are so cool. My 478 yd hank of Cascade Ecological took only minutes to wind. It's really fascinating. Of course I had to buy yarn to wind too.

My DD#1 is also allergic to alpaca. I didn't know that when I knit her a hat and mittens to match. Apparently, she first learned of this allergy when she went to Israel on her first trip. I guess I had to be there. LOL
