WOW, Mirjam!!!! THIS is inspirating! Guess what! I was at a factory sale on my way to holiday, and what did I buy!!???

*Wool yarn for a winter/autumn sweater, Pink, but not PINK-pink!! I think it is number 49 here:

I "construct" a sweater "unstraight" , with V-neck and colar...!Well, don't you think...??? I think you describe "the latest" for this winter very well!

I have also heard that you have to, sort of "break the style! If you wear a short tweed skirt and wool sweater, you should wear somthing quite unstylish together with it, for example an under skirt hanging down at the back, made of tulle or other silky stuff (I think it is something like you tell about) ( know what I mean?

)And may be silk shoes with high heels, and some wool socks with lace cuff and beads on. IF WE in addition make a thick yarn braide (haven't enough hair) hanging down in front of our left eye, I am sure we have broken the style enough, (taken in considderation our age, just by wearing this) to be the MOST fashionate and "IN" ladies in the world :-))))!

How thrilling!!!!

I will start with the "not so VERY pink" sweater at once!!! AUD ;-))

OOh I love that site. You can see all the yarns on one page and the samples are big enough to see the textures and colors. I wonder if they sell in the US

Aud, I love the idea of your pink jumper but being old fashioned ( or just old !!!) I think I would stop there while you are in front !!! ( I am sure you are joking with the latter though) God Bless Gwen

Depends on the length of the skein, right? I date from the dark ages so I think of skeins as weighing 4 ounces. Nowadays they're more often

3 ounces or less. I believe 7 four-ounce skeins of aran weight is enough for a Large sweater, maybe for a short-sleeved XL sweater. If they're 3 ounce skeins, maybe there'll be enough for sleeveless top?

Or maybe a vest? Long, long vests are in right now. Many of them done in an open, or lacy type pattern, lots of holes and spaces between the stitches. Marie and the cats

In this case, skein size depends on the size of the spinning wheel bobbin. It's about 5 ounces, judging by the washed skein I just weighed. I'll probably have to count yardage or maybe get out my McMorran balance to get a better idea how far this will go. Or play it safe and stripe it with some of the similar yarn I've been spinning and dyeing in skeins.
