Thanks for the link, Stella....love it!

Some are definitely 'out there' , aren't they? Some of the 'simple' hats have similar style elements to some of my designs, although I hope mine aren't seen as 'different' as those strike me.

Most, if not all, of the yarns used on that page are gorgeous, though, even if the resulting hat isn't my taste.

Most of them are truly ugly!

She definitely has a lot of imagination. I might not be inclined to wear any of them ( maybe one or two :) but it does show the talent and skill involved!

Some of them are seriously ridiculous--but taste is a very individual thing, and I love a lot of them, especially at the top of the page. Many of them look unwearable to me (meaning they would fall off the back of my head), but I would enjoy being the sort of person who could wear them!

I didn't think they were necessarily ugly...weird, unusual, strange, odd....and definitely a waste of simply beautiful yarn (silk, linen, flax...what a waste!). They definitely fit in at those fashion shows...ever see some of what's considered high fasion??!! ugh.

Yes, plenty of design skills evident there. Most of them look unwearable without some sort of anchoring device (are hatpins still available?).

X-No-Archive: yes

Thanks, Stella. What an interesting site! These are some pretty amazing constructions from someone very imaginative. I could see them on the runways of Paris or Milan!

OMG, I'm spewing coffee! I can't imagine making something like that, much less wearing it in public.

The overall impression I got of the ones with the tubes is that they look like Star Wars' Queen Amidala's hair dressers had a VERY bad day! So I guess people who go to sci-fi conventions wouldn't think anything of seeing something like that as part of a costume.

Uhhhh, yeeeah!

Doesn't that black and red one (about six or seven down) with the beads all over it, look like a toilet paper cover to you?

None of them appeal to me at all, in any way shape or form.

Well, there are one or two that I could use as parts of costumes, but that's about it.

I rather liked many of them ,,, but i have this `thing` about hats ,,, in a country where many people cover their heads either with hat or Headkerchief as a sign of religion, it becomes hard to wear a [`normal`] hat , thus a bit different one serves me well to warm [or shed from sun] , without being identified as belonging to a group i don`t belong too, As to wearing at times some odd shaped hats , i can always explain it with `being an artist !!!` ,,, mirjam

Yes, you could get away with it, Mirjam. I couldn't!

Katherine ??? how did you know i can get away with it ? from my pics??

Years ago i visited some relative of my stepfather ,,, she had a HUGE house , with Backside stairs fro the servants etc,,,, as i was bored she gave me permisssion to make order in a closet ,,,, where amongst othertreasures [all smelling of Naftalin] she had more than 40 hats , being 11 i had a ball wearing and prading before the huge mirror , ever since i know Hats are Me .... But as i wrote alas here it is too much of an ideological message .... mirjam
