Threads exchange, suggestions needed please

Hi Everyone,

Well, the question I have about the threads exchange is this, is there enough interested in it to continue it on a montly basis? Lately there have been only six or seven every month and some of you lovely ladies have had two partners in a month and I know you have all had the same person at least twice, the exception is a new person who signs up. I'm willing to keep doing it, but need to know who everyone feels about it.

Hugs,

Nora

Please keep it going, I have just gotten started again and would love to be able to get enough squares to make an afghan with. Maybe in order to get enough squares, maybe, we could up the amount of squares, lets say to 4, just a thought. I vote YES for keeping it going.

Bart I guess Nora will answer your post - Nora is not talking here about the

6 x 6 squares - that will, I am sure keep going as it usually has alot of participants. The thread exchange is a quite different thing where folk exchange a number of lengths of thread each month - I have not taken part in this exchange as it started when I was away and I have not done anything about it since - I just keep to the 6 x 6

I also noted your post that you received the squares I sent - glad the colour was OK God Bless Gwen

Thanks Gwen for the info, maybe I should not post at 3 o'clock in the morning when I am so tired, brain must have already been sleeping............LOL

Hi Bart,

Yes, Gwen is correct, it's about the thread exchange, not the 6x6. I wouldn't think of stopping that one as there are always new people joining and most of the original people too. So far there has only been a couple of times that I've had to give two people the same ones they had before. Hugs,

Nora

I've been hoping more would participate but there just doesn't seem to be enough interest to continue the threads exchange.

I know that I haven't really any right to speak on this, as I stopped organizing the exchange a while back, and Nora kindly took it on. But IMHO I think if there isn't a good sized group doing it, then it is just a fair bit of work for Nora to have to keep doing. I think maybe it has run it's course. Nora has a lot to do to keep track of the comfortghans, do her own knitting, organize and keep track of the 6x6 exchange, etc. (Yes, Nora, I know you really don't mind, but still....) :-)

Hi Nora, I think that unless a *lot* more people join in, this exchange is doomed. Maybe it would be worth having a break for now and try to launch it again in a few months.

I really don't have the right to speak about this subject because I have never taken part in either of the exchanges (due to lack of postage, not lack of interest). However, I was thinking about this and thought I would toss in a suggestion to see if this might help a bit for those who are interested in the Thread Exchange and don't want to lose it entirely. Would it be acceptable for those who are interested in *both* to have an asterisk beside their names and then those people could be matched up (not necessarily every month if that would match the same people up repeatedly)... then they could send a few threads along *with* their two 6x6 squares?

Just a thought... I don't know if that would help or mess things up.

*shrug*

Peace! Gemini

The treads exchange I don't know anything about but the 6X6 is fun to join almost every month b/c of almost every month is whether I have postage or not. Pam-Doggirl3

Hi Ladies,

I've read your replies and I think what would be a good suggestion is say for May to Sept. we discontinue it, then I'll post it again at the beginning of Oct. and if there is enough interest in it then, we'll start over. How does that sound?

Gemini, your idea is a good one, but some of the ones who do the threads, don't do the 6x6 square exchange and viceversa.

Hi Norma,

Thank you for the kind words and it's not a problem to do, just wish there were more in it. Now, if we start it again in the fall and you wanted it back, that's fine too, I'll leave it up to you.

Hugs,

that could work out bad in the end Gem, See where you are coming from though and it is a good suggestion, but when and if only a few put a note by the side of their names to say they want threads, it'll mean that they are always having the same partners to get the threads, and 6x6 if they keep putting a mark by their names for threads, and then that would mess up the other list..as they wouldn't ever get to swap with the squares ... if you see what I mean... it may mean that if there is so few '' Threaders'' that they list on here that they have some to swap, and then others see it and get intouch and then email each other off group as before for addy's etc.

Good idea Nora, besides if there is just a few who want to continue with the threads, they can shout on here '''''Threads for Exchange''''' and then someone can answer and swap addy's off group as before..

Sounds fine by me Nora - I have a year's worth of threads to use up, and should get busy doing that. I would probably participate again, but only if we get a fresh batch of people willing to try it.

Thanks so much to you for carrying on after Norma, thanks to Norma, and thanks to Mirjam who unofficially started it in the first place. It was fun, and I received a lot of beautiful yarn. And, a big thanks to all who participated !!!!!!

Now I know what the tread exchange is. Reading Shelagh's reply on this post told me what it is. It when people send each other yarn. How cool. Nora when you do start it back up I might join up. Pam-Doggirl3

Hi Pam,

I've marked it on my calendar to start it up in Oct. It's not all yarn, you can send threads too. There is an FAQ posted for it too. You can find that by doing a google search in the group.

Hey Norma, I wondering if there is more info that not mention about the tread exchange somewhere what other treads are then the yarn that you are sending? All you sending patterns too? Pam-Doggirl3

Hi Pam,

Instead of trying to put what it is here, go and do another search called anyone interested in a thread exchange and you'll find the definition of what they exchange. If you don't find it let me know and I'll copy an paste it to you.

Hugs,

Nora
