Why does my bread from breadmaker have white tops?

If it has a viewing window at the top, the heat escapes and it just doesn't bake as much.

I get round the problem by taping a piece of aluminium foil over the window area making sure I do not cover any ventilation holes in the top lid. This gives a slightly darker crust. I always use the darkest crust option.

Alternatively take the bread out of the pan and put it in a hot oven

200 deg C for another 10 minutes. This will brown the top and crisp up the sides more.

No, I have a Prima abm6, which is a normal domestic machine, I just bake bread for the family (and friends if they're very very good!) but this machine has an expert setting which lets me play with all the cycle times, so if something goes wrong I can save the day by re-programming it, I like to play with different flours and seeds so I do a fair bit of recipe development which leads to the odd half brick loaf on the way.( Good for throwing at the pigeons which gather on my garden lawn!)

Each machine needs a bit of recipe adjusting before you get it right for your particular way of baking. I've had 4 different ones and they were all slightly different.

Flour's relatively cheap so keep experimenting. If you start with the book that came wth the machine and work from there.... There are lots of web sites which give good advice, just google for them.
