I HATE Ladders

I'm doing this really big Synagogue restoration job where I need to go up to the top of an extended 16 foot extension ladder to get to 5 windows. I'm getting too old for this kind of stuff. Sad to say but everytime I get a "high" job, I swear that this is the last one. I just don't feel comfy up there like I used to. I bought a stabilizer bar for the top, and this worked out well. I actually considered renting a cherry picker, but of course it was situated outdoors on an incline in soft dirt, and wouldn't work out. I ended up sending my 17 year old son up for some of it, but he just doesn't have the skills required. Anyone else swear off ladders?

Yup, scaffolds too, I hire the outside work done and add it to the bill, with the clients knowledge and approval before hand.

I will go up on a skyjack, I love those things and am perfectly at home with one of those with a good operator.

Yeah, me too. My feet don't leave the ground. Except that I will work off of an aluminum folding bench if I need to work on a transom. I've sworn off scaffolds and cherry pickers long ago.

I have enough residential repair work on doors, sidelites, and transoms and the occasional bath window without taking on any of the 2 story tall palladium windows or inaccessable church windows. I don't need the work bad enough to take any extra risks.

You need to erect scaffolding. Check out Baker scaffolding.
