Really big big thankyou

Quite some time ago I posted asking for the pack details of Colour Catchers so I could get our local supermarket to get them in.

From time to time since then since I have been getting little pack of CCs in the mail. That is special, but even more special is that so many were willing to pay Air Mail to send them. The post was prob'ly more than the packs.

Thankyou SO SO much - one and all. I am still trying to browbeat my incredibly unco-operative local Safeway into stocking these, but as I now have enough to last a year or more I don't really care so much.

I promise the favours will be passed on.

I was only wondering how you were going the other day with this. You have an IGA don't you ? When/If the need arises they being a much smaller chain may be a bit more co operable.

Woolworths? where is there still a woolworths open!!! I haven't seen one of those for 20 years! When I was a kid -- I LOVED to go there -- always something fun to find that I could afford (even with my meager allowance!!)

..but they aren't the same as the 'old' Woolies of my childhood, where the counters were divided into little sections, some that contained little plastic dollies that you could take to school in your pocket. Little bottles of cheap perfume and face cream, and 'Pick and Mix' sweets.

Now they are all CDs, Barbie Dolls and Playstations! (They do have good chocolate though).

The did seem to diminish for a time, but then reappeared in the '80's (?)

Woolworths downunder is a grocery store, sounds like yours is more a variety type store.

Our Woolworth's are not F.W Woolworths of my childhood in Birmingham. This is an Australian company started by a Mr Christmas many years ago and based on F.Ws shops. They have now become supermarkets of groceries and produce where you serve yourself for speed and queue up for hours to get out through the checkouts. Nowhere near the fun of the F.Ws,. I loved Peacocks as well but I think they became Littlewoods after the War, when they were bombed they never quite came back. Ruth, Sydney
