CKC (in KC) here I come!

Well, I'm off this morning to some shopping and, hopefully, lots of fun make n takes. I finally got over to their website a few days ago and did find some classes I'd like to take. My mom doesn't want to spend any money on classes though and that's who I'm going w/. My first choice is at 9:20 and the shopping doesn't start until 10. If it opened earlier I wouldn't feel bad about it. As it is I'm not going to make her have to hang around w/ nothing to do for nearly an hour. I imagine I'll get some hands on experience w/ some new products at the make n takes anyway. I saw a tv commercial last night and it said to mention the ad and get $2 off admission. Whoo hoo, that's two more bucks to spend on something else!

In last Sundays paper their was an ad for K&Co. It seems that their warehouse is nearby the convention and this weekend they'll be having a big clearance sale. I'm definitly going to have to check that out too. Maybe I can find enough to make my 6x6 barn pages.

I'm excited and maybe this'll light a fire under me to get to scrapping. Lord knows I need it.

Sounds like fun Katrina. I'm thinking of signing up for CKU Album in Atlanta in July.

Good grief Lynne, isn't it something in the order of 5:30 in California?

Probably 6:20 when I posted it. Kids new school schedule this year make us all have to get up at 6 am. I hadn't gotten the kids (or myself for that matter) up before 7 am since 1997. It's been quite an adjustment. Anything before 7am just seems wrong. hahaha So, when they are in the shower and I have breakfast well at hand I jump on and see what's going on online.

Have a great time. I have always wanted to go to CKC but there hasn't been one close enough. The K & Co clearance sale sounds great. Hope you get lots of goodies and some wonderful ideas.

Okay, here's my critique of CKC. It was just okay. I was surprised because I expected a lot more venders than what there was. Maybe in other cities it's bigger. I had a nice time though. I got to try the new xyron(?) thingie, can't remember the name, that you run across the paper or ribbon and it prints on it. This thing is way cool and so easy to use. But for the price, I would so have one! I did get coupons from the Archivers booth that were very good. 10 free sheets of 8.5x11 cs or a 50 pack 12x12 w/ $20 purchase. Since they're right around the corner from my work I went by Saturday and spent the $20 and got the 50 pack. I had a nice time but don't think I'll go back next year.

Oh yeah, and the K&Co sale. Wow! They had bins just full of embellishents and stickers for $1 a piece. Racks and racks of paper for

5/$1. Several tables w/ albums on them. I wasn't interested in the albums but I think the most any went for was $7. I landed up spending around $24 there and got a bag full of stuff. Well worth the trip.

PS: I almost forgot, I did buy some way cool ribbon at the Little Black Dress Designs booth. It's called Lip Smackin' Ribbon. I used it on a make & take. To me it felt like a real thin wood veneer. She said it's paper though. You can curl it, shred it, crimp it, heat emboss it, dry emboss it. So many things. I got the orange and the yellow packs. I'd like to have bought every color. It's $6 for four diff designs each

Oh no! Don't tell me that. I'm signed up for three classes at the CKC in St. Louis next Saturday. The one last year in Nashville was fantastic!!! Classes great and the vendors were like heaven. That's the main reason we're going. I'm hoping for the same this time. Did you take any classes? Sorry you were disappointed. Sandy

The Lip Smackin' Ribbon sounds cool! I'll have to start looking for it here. Enabler! LOL Glad you had a nice time, though. Between you and April, I'm beginning to drool over the new Xyron printer thingy!

Sandy, I didn't take any classes. Had I, I prolly would've had a better time. It just seemed their weren't many venders. St Louis will prolly have more than we had. KC seems to be overlooked quite a bit on the city scale. Given the choice of one city in two weeks in MO some companies would prolly pick SL. Have fun and let's here about your classes!

I went to the CKC in St. Louis/Collinsville Illinois Saturday. I thought it SUCKED big time. I did not find any bargains and only a few new techniques. SEI had two tractor trailers parked in the back so I figured they would be having a lot of stuff. Same stuff as in the stores. The only thing I saw that was new was a foil tecnique. But it was pricy. They wanted $30-60 for the kits. I've used foil before. This had a special glue pen, rainbow foils, and you could also use fine glitter. The glue would make the glitter feel as if it was solid. Fiskars had a nice display and I bought an embosing border punch. I have not seen that in the stores. The regular border punches were the same prices as Michels or Hobby Lobby. Most stands had their 12X12 at

50 cents a sheet and most could be found in stores at that prices or cheaper. I bought a few embellishments and a couple of stencils That was all. One stand had the new half punches with a sign saying 20% off and they were marked $8.99. I just bought two at Archivers for the same price on Tuesaday. Oh and Archiver's gave out a coupon for 10 free sheets this weekend only and a mini album with $20 purchase until some time in May. I sure hope the rubber stamp show in June is better.

Denise, Too bad we didn't figure a way to meet while we were there. I was there from

8 am until 3:30 pm. I found some great buys at the $ booth and my DD loves to use the Deluxe Cuts so their $ area was great for me picking up supplies for her. I was disappointed that little black dress designs ran out of several colors of the loosie fibers before I got there. I did get to see one of the Xyron Design Runners in use and actually got to try it out. That was cool! I do wish the booths would have more deals and special prices for attendees. You would think they would at least have have things marked down lower that retail price. I too was excited when I saw the sei semi's. and disappointed like you at the booth inside. I did enjoy the three classes I took. The sei class is always worth attending. They do two double page LO's every time. And they taught us how to make a flower pedal photo book for on our LO's to get more photos on the page. This CKC was definitely not as big as the one in Nashville I attended last year, and they overbooked the classes which made it difficult to get started as they had to take time to try to get everyone situated at tables with supplies. I did get to the Archivers. It is a nice store and they were letting everyone who had the coupons from the convention use both coupons at the same time. That was cool!. Sandy
