CKC - Valley Forge

I wish I could. We had planned a trip to Philly for vacation in August, but with gas prices as they are I'm just not sure we can make it. It's a 12 hour drive. It would have been nice to combine the trip with at least one day at the convention. That's how I did St. Louis last year.

I registered for 3 classes on Saturday. I was considering staying over on Saturday night and going to the Saturday night crop but I am going by myself since the rest of my family is going to my nieces softball tournament in VA (too hot for me) that weekend and I don't know anyone else going.

I registered for the Think Big Canvas, Clearly Visible Album, and the Lickety Split 8x8 Disney Board Book classes which should be interesting as they say intermediate to advanced and fast paced and I sometimes take weeks to complete a single layout or project LOL.

Sounds like you picked some really good classes. I like the board book one and the Clearly Visible Album. I'd love to take one of the word book classes. About my favorite thing at the conventions is the shopping and make-n-takes. I usually have a budget (which is not much), but I sure like to look and try out the new tools and gagets. Sandy

Do you have the Cricut Design Studio? If so susanuncle has an online lesson in making word books on the Cricut. I prefer to cut from chipboard and if you have CDS you can use muliticut and it takes 2 times to cut completely through the chipboard.

I don't plan on buying much as I have been told the prices are usually at full retail so unless it is something that I don't think I can live without I am not going to buy it. I also heard it is very crowded and to be prepared to wait in long lines and I hate that so I will probably skip shopping for the most part.

I don't have one yet, but it is on my wish list. The LSS had a class last night called Cricut 101 and they showed techniques using the CDS. I did so want to go, but I was teaching my last class in Evansville for the child care providers. I decided to stop for the summer with the option to start classes again this fall. Hopefully gas will have gone down,,,,though I won't hold my breath over that one. I'm hoping they do another Cricut class this summer I can take. I have not had much time to play with mine.

There are a few specific booths I try to get to at the conventions. I don't know if they are at all of the CKC's but they have been at the ones in the midwest I have attended. One is the Everything's $1 booth, and the other is a booth that sells brads (especially the fancy ones) and other one sells embellishments by the cupfull and you get to mix- and-match. Other than that, I usually window shop unless someething specific catches my eye. Several of the booths have clearance baskets. I bought several individual SU stamps for $1 each at the one in St. Louis last year. At Nashville the last time I was there Avery had a booth giving out free programs using their templates and a fantastic goodie bag full of samples of all of their products. I stay clear of the booths that sell kits and things like that, but it is unbelievable the number of people who come to buy them for $12 or more apiece.
