I am going to the MWSA Scrapbook convention

OH I am so excited! Girls day out! whoo hoo!!! I asked for the day off work tomorrow so my friend and I can attend a big scrapbook event in Indianapolis! It is the Midwest Scrapbook Association convention. I originally wanted to attend the crop party on Friday night, but we decided to just drive over and shop on Saturday! It's at the State fair grounds. I provided a link below to the website and the list of exhibitors that will be there. It looks like there will be a lot to look at...and..er..maybe BUY...LOL There are make n takes at some of the booths too! I will post when I get back!

Ah man! Linda, next year give me a shout. I'll see if I can come too. I've been wanting to go to a convention. I've been hoping that one will come to Columbus or Cincinnati, but Indy would have worked too.

Hope you had a blast!

I am back from Indy! My friend and I had a nice day together. I hadn't seen her in over a week, so it was nice catching up on the drive there. There were quite a lot of vendors there, and local scrap stores had booths too. I finally got to see a demonstration of the Xyron design runner..how cool is that?! I couldn't get near the Cricut or the Wishblade booths, they were too crowded! I really wanted to see them in action. I saw about 5 different booths that had premade laser cut pages in all different themes. My friend got one that was a basketball cut out that took up the whole page, and you crop your pictures to put underneath the cutout sections, and it turns out like a collage in the shape of a basketball. It was really cool, and cost $4.00, and that was a cheap one! Some of the more detailed laser cuts were $5-$9 each for a set of two. There were some really interesting ones! The make n take tables were always busy, so we didn't get to do any of those..boo hoo! I got a good deal on some double sided tape dispensers, that were refillable. The dispenser was $2.00 and refills were in a pack of two for $1.49! If I find these work reasonably well, I will order more from his website. I got about 30 sheets of paper, a few embellishments, some precut chipboard daisies in a little jar for $1.99..so cute! I found some laser cutouts of my sons names in different colors. I only spent about $50. I was pretty good considering all the pretty things there were! ***I also shopped a little for my NSSSF! **wink wink** I found that they had the crop tables open on Saturday too, and we could have brought our stuff to scrapbook! WAH! That info wasn't on the website! Oh well..I will keep that in mind for next year! When we first walked in the door and handed in our ticket stubs, we signed up for the hourly door prizes. They took the box away,to draw the names just as we put ours in. We headed for the restroom before starting to shop, and while I was in there, they called my name over the loudspeaker! LOL I was so surprised!! I came out of the restroom and asked my friend if they really called my name, and she looked at me and said,"Bitch!".(..in the most loving, friendly way, of course..haha!! ) The last three events we have attended together, I have won a door prize, I guess I am just lucky! :-) Anyway, I won my choice of 6 vellum quotes from one of the booths. Her whole booth was a wall of pockets containing nothing but vellum quotes and poems. I let my friend choose two for herself. One of the vendors is located only about 15 miles from me, and in my opinion, had the best selection and one of the biggest booths there. They were crowded the whole time and had two cashiers! Creek Bank Creations is their name. I am going to check them out in person sometime. Their business is based mainly on internet sales, but have a shop open during selected hours during the week. We had our fill of shopping, and headed out for lunch at O'Charleys and then home. I regret not sharing this event with everyone on here sooner, so some of you could have gone too! It was kind of a last minute decision to go, because I wasn't sure if I would be up to it. Maybe next year! Ok,off to play with my goodies!

Linda, I'm so happy you had a great day. I was thinking about you. Can you tell me how much it cost to walk in for the day? I looked at the registration and it was like $150, but I'm hoping that is for LSS and such. I've been looking around for a converence for about 2 years. I haven't quite figured out the schedules, costs, and other how-to's for a walk-in (non-vendor or non-LSS affiliate). Everytime I see a conference posting, it is either next year, just missed it, or requires travel. Just my luck!

Glad you had fun!

Amy, When I went to the Creating Keepsakes Convention over by St. Louis earlier this year it cost me $51 for the day - $15 each for the 3 classes I took and $6 for the vendors pass to get into the shopping area for the day. then I had to add gas, food and spending money on top of that. I just went for the day. When I went to Nashville the year before I spent the night and the Opryland Hotel room was $99 + taxes extra (well worth the price - you should have seen the hotel) and I took 5 classes instead of 3 and paid an extra $20 for the crop night. The crop was well worth it as they gave each person a baggie full of goodies and we got to use their cutting tools all evening. Those are my convention experiences. The price s I paid were well worth the experience. All of the classes were fantastic. Sandy
