Wow you guys. DH was another one of those New Year type miracles, 2 months premie - Dec 30th = a tax baby, and end of the decade! But he didn't come home until July. Mom went home I think about 2 weeks later - without him, obviously. When he finally got home, the doctor in charge tore up the rather large bill saying that it was truly a miracle, and take their blessing. Needless to say, he seems to have survived quite well - his parents were astonished - and the family lore of the doctor tearing up the hospital bill carried forward - the doctor just felt that whatever combination of things had managed to work, it baffled them all. His DM was also a nurse at that hospital, so, who knows ....

Wow, your MIL was *lucky*!!!! That would *never* happen these days!
LOL! If DD (his aunt) has anything to say about it! She's still waiting for the day she can put Addison on Trixie. Speaking of which, Trixie is due to have her foal later this month! :)
Of course she's waiting...anxiously. Wow - waiting for that foal. More congrats to come...
Hey - I still have some adorable (hahaha) photos of my first lessons in the "big girl" group - and they have me riding in the leathers because even after looping them a couple of times thru the stirrup iron, I couldn't reach, so well, that was it. I was in the class with the horses, not the little kids on ponies - my dad ok'ed it. My mom would've had a fit. Photos are hysterical - I don't think they'd allow it now. As I recall, after a couple of weeks, somehow they got some adjustment made so I had something that fit - I look like a little weeble wobble on this big thoroughbred hunter. But, it was the first year we were in Florida, and well, dad had to make up for my homesickness for my friends up north...

LOL! I can picture it! *Years* ago I was at a show where there was this tiny girl on a horse and she got up there all by herself because they strung a series of stirrups on one side for her to climb!
A late congratulations, Joan!!!!!!
I became a great aunt myself back in August!!!! :-)
Thanks, Liz, and congrats to you and yours, too! :)
