Kanzashi flower

has anyone made these folded fabric flowers? i ran across them while perusing various cathedral window pix online. seems they're made from squares. could be cute placed on handbags, hats, shawls et al. i'm still reading thru a couple of sites on how to make them, dont look too hard and uses up square scraps. that sounds good to me. just wondered who here might have made them. got pix? got any tips? j.

I had never heard of these, so I just Googled and found them. They are very pretty indeed. I thought, at first, that there might be no P&Q use for them (they are intended as hair ornaments, traditionally). But, then I thought of all the uses that yo-yos can be put to, and I reckon that these flowers could be used in the same way as yo-yos. I have a little box full of Liberty lawn pieces; and, as they are so fine, they might work beautifully for these. I hardly ever do anything like this! but I do think they are lovely and not slow or difficult to make. Great for a take-along project - no sewing involved in making them - it's all folding.

Thanks J.

I've done folded origami flowers with fabric as embellishments for a wall hanging but these look even nicer. And they just use little scraps of fabric so even better :) Thanks! Allison
