OT: Flu season... again??

All three of my "men" came down with it within hours. I have no idea how that happened as they are never together outside the house. But there you go. I have spent the past five days nursing, comforting, pushing fluids and generally taking care to stay out of their way unless they want something. DH missed two days of work. Son #1 missed one. Son #2 just went on to his job at KFC and I'm certain infected some of his co-workers/customers. But hey, most of them were already sick too. Whole town is sick.

So far I have dodged the bullet. But last night I gave out, hit the sack at 7:30 p.m. and slept until this morning about an hour ago. I look like somebody slept on my face. Must have been me. And my throat is scratchy and my head hurts. Whether I just haven't had enough hot tea or it's a harbinger of the plague, I'm keeping my head down for a while.

Prayers to all who need, happy dances with everybody -- whether you finish that UFO or not (we all deserve a happy dance), good luck to everybody and big ol' ex-patriated Texan hugs from the sunny Inland Northwest.

Sunny taking a break from everything

Down here we have the cough. Dry pretual cough that ends up giving you laryngitis you cough so hard. You bring up nothing! After about a week and a gallon of Robitussin you FINALLY start to cough up some flem. It feels good to do so. I am on my day 2 of flem so I am hoping I am on the tail end of this thing. I am finally able to sleep at night because I am not coughing as much.

I haven't personally tried it, but many of my friends swear by Vick's Vapo Rub for coughs at night. However, they put it on the BOTTOM OF THEIR FEET rather than on chests. Some wear socks to bed and some don't, but they all say it works wonders and they can sleep through the night.

WOW, that is different. I'm going to try it. I"ll let you know.

Cool! I'm going to remember that. Plus it would moisturize your feets!

I now need all the toxin flushing I can get. My fever is so high my gums feel like they're going to burst. If I could sleep I wouldn't be on the computer, but I hurt too bad to lie down. Somebody just shoot me.

But I'm going inthebedroom to put Vicks on my feet. If it works at night, why not in the afternoon?

DD and I were at a health food store the other day and I pointed them out. She said she looked on the internet and people said it was rust on the pads. That your feet naturally sweat and the pads contain some kind of metal and it turns to rust.

She had no answer when I asked why it got less and less every day when you peeled them off.

My husband has had the flu for 7 days now. It hit him from chest up with sore throat, high fever, aches, and a horrible cough. I have never seen him this sick. He's finally feeling better this morning. He was taking something the doctor recommended but 2 days ago I bought Thera Flu and it is finally hitting it. If he didn't improve, off to the emergency he was going this today. I'm so tired but so far, no flu for me. I hope I stay well. I hope we all stay away from it. Roanoke is also full of the flu. This flu is the new one and it's bad.

Stay well,

I came down with something on Wed. Don't want to wish this on my worst enemy. I left work at 9AM and came home to sleep. Got up at 7PM and made some chicken with rice soup. Good stuff, ate it all.

Yesterday went to work and got progressively worse. Migraine type headache, photosensitivity in my eyes, started in the morning with left eye draining with clear and mucus-y fluid, then it moved to right eye. Sinuses draining, productive cough, can't see to get warm enough. Made it thru the day, barely. We had big trials going on. Came home and crashed. Woke up at 4AM and called bosses' phone that I would be in. Went to dr at 9:30, got antibiotic eye drops and broad=3Dspectrum antibiotics. Picked up a bottle of cough syrup. Am home and do not plan to go anywhere.

It being Good Friday, just before a holiday, there were already 5 scheduled off. Additional 3 called in sick. They are running very thin, and gal covering my courtroom has never done it before. Oh, well. I decided to take care of me first.

omg, its all over the country now. i'm glad you're staying home and taking care of yourself, Ginger. sounds like folks are not taking care as soon as they feel sick and going home to bed so as to get well quicker and also to not spread that dreaded lurgy (sp?). if the country shuts down, so be it. better than if there is no one to nurse the ill. the soup sounds like a good remedy, keep that up, the body needs lots of protein to rebuilt cells to replace those lost thru the illness. hope there is some probiotics going down as well , to counter those antibiotics that eat up the good bacteria as well as the bad. eeeeeeeek. i'd send hugz but from the sound of it, those might be too close for comfort too. jeanne

This is a nasty bug. Ginger, I'm glad you're taking care of yourself. DH and my sons all had coughs. So far, I'm just sick and getting sicker. the fever is the worst. My throat is full of ''gunk". and I really can't sleep. Just horrible. I'm used to pain, but this ache is inside the bones and wants to break out.

Everybody, go home and don't get exposed.

Sunny -- don't hug me, I'm disgusting.

Hubby thinks he's got it now...came out of nowhere and he has the aches, chest and throat, headache, clamminess and slight fever...which will probably go up during the night. First thing he always heads for is the TheraFlu. Hopefully it will help him sleep and knock this thing for a loop before it gets worse. We are debating if I have had the flu.....I've had chills off and on for a hwile now, but nothing beyond that. Somehow I think it's just me being cold with the sporadically warm weather we've been having

re the coughing....have been told by the ped and my doc, and nurses at church....the cough lingers for quite a while. It was so bad that DS had to get put on a special cough medicine (read narcotic) so that he could get some sleep at night!! I have the sinus nonsense, but I tend to have that most of the year thanks to allergies, and DD is still sinusy, though not coughing as much. Hopefully things will start clearing up in the near future
