no more timtex?!

I just found out that timtex is no longer being made. I use a ton of the stuff for little diaper/tote bags that are sold commercially. I've tried a heavyweight fusible something-or-other but prefer the way the timtex shapes the bag. I know I can buy up remnants at various quilt shops but I'd like to find a replacement. Any ideas?

TIA, Tamra

I use pellon peltex 70. It works just as good. You can get it at Joanns, Walmart, or some fabric stores. I have some stuff on my webshots that I made with it.

I haven't used it, but Long Creek Mills in Gastonia NC has a product called Stiffy that they claim is similar, and is $1.79 for a yard of

18 inch wide material.

I've bought cones of cotton quilting thread from them and been very satisfied with the products and the service. And a lot of people who go to Mary Jo's in Gastonia for a fabric fix say LCM is a must-see, too.

Dorothy, I love your work, you are so creative! And thanks for the tip about using pellon peltex 70 also. Let the fabric bowls march on!

Howdy!

Stock up!

Invest in a goodly supply before it disappears from the market.

Just ordered the Peltex. Thanks for the info! I thought of stocking up before everyonne ran out but I'm too cheap. I get my stuff wholesale and have a lot of trouble paying $9.50/yard for something I usually pay less than half that for. Got the Peltex for $3/yard. Love that tax #. :-)

For fabric bowls, there's also a product called Fast-2-Fuse that's the weight of Timtex, but already has the fusible on it. Not a cheap thrill though, especially the piece I bought here. Roberta in D
