OT Name the puppy!

I decided to use my spare time volunteering at the local animal shelter- y'all know I'm absolutely goofy about dogs. Of course (and you *knew* this was coming! LOL) I came home with a new dog on the very first day of working there.

He's absolutely gorgeous! A 7 month old Golden Retriever/Collie cross with a luscious, soft, deep, deep chocolate brown coat with pumpkin colored highlights. His head, muzzle and lower legs are a brindle pattern of the chocolate and pumpkin and his undercoat and the backs of his rear legs are a soft silvery beige.

This sweet-natured, cuddly, eager to please and very bright pup came with the name "Spud" which does not suit his elegent looks nor his precious personality and it just will not do. I've come up with Reese (after Reese's peanut butter cups); Baxter (just cuz I like it), Mocha or Bear (he rather looks like a little brown bear). But I'm not really happy with those choices.

Please help me find the perfect name for my puppy- nothing too strange or exotic or silly, please. Just a nice descriptive and pronouncable name to suit my newest lovebug.

You know me. If it were up to me I would probably call him something like Stormaggedon Dark Lord of All. Yes I am a Doctor Who fan. I am also one of those obnoxious people who suggests naming your new coal black kitten Snowflake.

Graham (after the cracker, which is sweet and matches his coloring) Splenda (he is sweet and calorie free) Tag (totally classic dog name) Finn (after the wool) Cashmere or Kashmir (after the wool) Burl (as in wood burl which your description of his coloring reminds me of)

Sounds like a caramel Truffle. Well done!

Maybe you could read names to him for a while -if you come across the right >I decided to use my spare time volunteering at the local animal

One of the kids at my school many, many years ago had a dog names Garfield - this is within maybe 2 years of the Garfield cartoon showing up in mainstream here.

I think that I'll add my vote for "Burl"

I was going to suggest "Pickle" ,,,because he'll surely get into a few memorable ones

My walk in the park today with our two year old golden retriever "Barnaby" made me realize that perhaps I should have called him "Gallumph" after his running style.

I'm happy for you and your new puppy. My Dashund's name is Reese because he looks like milk chocolate dipped in peanut butter! Good Luck! Barbara in FL
