Fate decided today!

When this Forest Hollow pattern group first came on the market, I said
that 'I love Owls!' but this set was too expensive. A Canadian lqs
has since advertised them with the fabric pack for the immense cost of
$395!!!
For months, I have been checking the reduced price of the kit at
Nancy's Notions - waiting patiently through several special deals
which included free shipping (even to Canada) and other incentives.
Yesterday, the store advertised a 15% reduction on all purchases (not
including reduced or clearance items) - I tried it out today on the
Forest Hollow package - the kit is being shipped to my SC cousin to
await collection at a later date by my sister.
Another plus = the Cdn dollar is almost at par right now so another
savings to add to the pot and the Owls are mine......the extra savings
'allowed' me to also add one of those rotary blade sharpeners and some
other wannahave notions to the parcel.....now, all I have to do is
stay patient for several more weeks.......jennellh

You clever shopper, you! Well done! Can't wait to see what you do with it. (Now, does drool count as pre-washing?) Roberta in D

I had looked at your post last night. This morning on my walk I was thrilled to see the two hoot owls at the park again, before they took to their nest for the day.
I love owls. Hmm, may have to spring for one of the patterns.

Sometimes things work out well and that is so terrific. Woohoo! You'll have to keep us updated on your progress. That is going to be one beautiful quilt. So happy for you. Taria

I think that I am all drooled out! There are only certain types of fabric that I do pre-wash these days - usually flannels, deep coloured batiks, etc. Many reasons why... jennellh

It is fun to hear such excitement! That is a beautiful WH. I took a peek at the quilt hangers. There is one that resembles a branch with leaves. It would be smashing with the owls design. I have a curtain rod with similar leaves which cost much less than that hanger; it is 'antique brass' finish. You may be able to find a similar curtain rod to use as is or to paint as you prefer. It is so nice to hear of owl sightings - I used to hear them during the night several years ago but they seem to have moved elsewhere now. I have to admit that I have never seen any live owls in person (in the wild, anyway). jennellh

Hi Jennifer,
Have you ever tried this search engine? I find a lot of things on it and great to price compare. For the next time you drool over something...

Hi Sandi - yes, the quiltshops.com search engine is very useful as is the fabshophop. I play whenever it is on and if I see an interesting collection, I add the shop to the list of favourites. I check out the shop's sale pages, free patterns and the what's new sections - if the shipping is OK - I'll also sign up for the newsletter. There are several new owl fabric collections that I shall be checking out for upcoming sale prices at various stores on line. jennellh

Yes, to both questions! Spring is really springing now. Clocks go forward on Saturday night. I've been away for a few days, and it was a bit further south, so a bit further on in the daffodil stakes. . In message , Jennifer in Ottawa writes
