Hullo Christina Don't forget that, to a non-quilter, almost anything looks difficult to do! Knowing you it would probably have to be quick as well!!

The first thing that came to mind when I read your question was perhaps using an easy block and experimenting with the arrangements of them. For example, Rail fence or Log cabin blocks can be arrange in so many pleasing ways. Yellow Brick Road always looks good, and can be used to show off lovely fabrics, because the pieces are quite large. Or, you could see how you get on with making some half-square triangles and then make one of the patterns that uses those. They can be very quick and easy to make if you use one of the multiple methods (we have spoken of them many times here on RCTQ).

However, I am sure I am not the best person to be answering this, as I so rarely do 'block' quilts. You will get other, better answers I'm sure.

is one link although I think there is a more traditional one outthere... let me look a little more...but really it is quite simple topiece.....try a couple of sample blocks, secret is the ruler and STARCH thefabrics. it helps to tame those wild bias edges.

How about either an Irish Chain or a double Irish Chain. I am doing a Double right now, talke about fast and easy. Those who don't quilt and have seen the layout think I have been working on it for almost as long as I have been working on my handquilted queen size whole cloth. DIC has only been worked on about a week (seems longer since I decided to make it bigger and have not found one of the fabrics I need).

Another thing to consider is that you could alternate two easy/intermediate blocks to get a much more complex look.

and to my eye, 5 patches nearly always look more difficult than they probably are. And a lot of them are "fancy" --- so does putting blocks on point.

then there is the plain ole 4 patch which you can do all sortsa ways

and there is always the 3D bowtie! simple.... even though it doesn't look to be.

Will I worked it out Roberta, and found out what I was doing wrong.. I was taking the 3 fabrics and trying to sew them all together, and also I was going above the 1/4 inch line, which was causing it too pucker. now I have that mastered, just not at 10)% yet. but I will

Well, I would say this ISN'T an easy pattern that looks hard... Or maybe it isn't so much hard as very time consuming. I would repeat what the others have said. Take a couple of simple blocks that when put together create a difficult looking pattern. (that is if you want fast)
