QI's hunting skills

Winston was 'skittish' most of the afternoon and evening yesterday - he was play tabbing a pair of gloves and moving items from a table near the bathroom door - nothing unusual really since that is where the catnip stash is located. This am, he was stalking an old vacuum cleaner which is waiting delivery to the Sally Army store - still not unusual behaviour since some of his toys were under the wheels. Later on, I rustled the plastic bag which contains the cats' deli turkey treats - all four of them came running to the kitchen for their tasters and then I noticed a rather large mouse on the carpet midway in the dining room - the difference with this one and one of the toy ones: legs that were twitching! It has been several years since the last 'real' mouse came into the apartment via the kitchen or bathroom pipes and it was a lesson in cat instincts. Winston showed me that deli turkey is preferred to real mouse and thank goodness, he is a hunter/player and not a hunter/eater or gatherer. He spent a good hour searching for his prey after I had disposed of it and his actions later showed me that there is no other creature hiding anywhere near his new favourite play area. Now, we can get back to quilting again. jennellh

Nice to know that Winston still knew exactly what to do with a real mouse! Barbara in FL
