Most of my most recent

There are still a few odds and ends to finish up, but here is a link to most of the Super Fish costumes I've been working on for the high school. The jelly fish wasn't pleased with her costume. But she was the only one. The green fish burst into the room with hers on and yelled "I LOVE IT!!!!!!" while grinning like a maniac. ;) That's the reaction I was hoping for.

What's not to like? Well, other than the sulky brat expression she has on! They are great! :D I love the wigs as well. :)

Thanks Kate!!! I agree, her expression is something isn't it?? LOL She's just very busy being unhappy all the time. But oh well. The teacher was Thrilled with them! She left me a voice mail a little while ago saying that they look wonderful onstage. She said they look like beta fish when they move their arms and the "fins" flutter. :) I'm very proud of them. :)

I forgot to mention that the jelly fish has a sparkle thing to go on the other arm too. But she couldn't wear it today because she just got her tattoo redone. She's going to put a bandage or something over the arm so she can wear the other wrist thing too.

Thank you Juno. You are so sweet! I really am settling in quite nicely. :) I started substitute teaching last fall as well. I'm doing that to earn the money I will need to reestablish my business here. There are all sorts of permits, etc. I will have to get first. That's fine. This job just sort of fell into my lap. I was shopping one day and met the teacher. We got to gabbing. (I know, you are Shocked that I would Gab!!! lol) She was looking for things for the Fall play. I gave her my phone number and told her to call me if she needed help ever. So she called and away we went!!! As far as first projects go, I think this was a great one---Tons of fun for me!! I do love something a little out of the ordinary and I think this qualifies. ;)

Sharon, they are FABULOUS, DARLING! ;-) I have worked on my share of costumes for high school musical productions, so I know your pain. There always seems to be ONE "This-Doesn't-Suit-Me-At-All!!!" whiner in the group. The other girls look like they'll be having tons of fun, and the costumes are very imaginative.

Congrats!

Fantastic fish! You did an excellent job, but that is Sharon. One of a group not being pleased is much below the average for that age,so it should not bother you in the least. Emily

Kudos, Sharon! I can just see them onstage, too. How clever of you to do the fins that way.

Indeed! The "fin" fish were impressive, but the jellyfish was the best costume, the most imaginative rendition. Knowing jellyfish only too well (summers on and in Galveston Bay) that hat gave me goosebumps!

Well there is the reason why she is busy being grumpy alot, all the girls I went to highschool with who had tatoos where very sulky also.

I would wear the jelly fish costume in an instant!

Great Job Sharon!

Thank you everyone for all the kind words!! I really appreciate it. :)

I had an absolute blast doing these. The easiest way to explain the script is Power Puff Girls blended with Finding Nemo. lol

You are all correct, I shouldn't be upset about one unhappy person when the rest are so thrilled. :) I've been working on considering the source and going on with myself. lol I think I might ask to borrow the JF hat and head to Louisville for Derby. I guarantee there wouldn't be another one like that walking around the Backside. lol

The fins actually "came to me" from an odd source. ;) My best pal from college belly dances. She sent me a link to a shirt her troupe was looking at for performance costumes. It was a surplice wrap style top with that flounce that the fish have on the sleeve. My pal is so tiny that even a small is sometimes too large, so she needed to make her own. I found a Kwik Sew pattern for her and we discussed how to make that flounce. Well! Then came the fish project. With that fresh in my mind...and once I saw the fabric that the teacher wanted to use, which is almost like a swimsuit fabric (but not stout enough to make a swimsuit out of) I really knew it would work! Lettuce edge on the serger and slap it on there. lol

What's really fun is when the girls move around. The fins float out beside them. Looks really cool....just hard to photograph. :(

This weekend I will finish up the sharks (Hammerhead Sharks ----every time they come onstage, MC Hammer "Can't Touch This" starts playing.) and the lobster. Then I will try to get pictures of them next week. I'll let you know when I get them put up. Blue MC Hammer pants....too much fun!! Easy to make too.
