Any "Fashion Fabric Club" Members Here?

I thought I'd try it for a bit. My first swatches came and the dark red dobby (#188) characterized as 100% cotton sure feels like 100% polyester to me. Anyone else catch that? I'll have to do a burn test if I can find a lighter somewhere. Also, do you think the purple sateen is really 95% cotton? I think maybe I better get my money back....

They just tell you what they were told. If the stuff comes in labelled wrong, they may not catch it.

I've had generally good experiences with the fabric I've gotten from them. The only "problems" have been color related, due either to the difficulties of getting on-line colors 'right' or to the smallish size of the swatches not showing all the colors in a print.

Well it's pretty darn obvious. You're making an assumption that may or may not be correct.

I did a burn test and got a bead. It's poly as I thought. I don't like dealing with places that do this kind of thing. You would think that they would check this kind of thing when cutting the swatches for a mass mailing. In fact, it seems like it would be pretty darn hard to miss. But of course they'd make a huge profit charging a cotton price for something that is really plastic.

I hate that too. I know there are plenty of folks here on the group that like fashion fabrics club a lot. I'm thrilled that y'all have had good experiences with them. But I'm not impressed with them to be totally honest.

I really don't like that I never know what I'm going to get. I think I've ordered from them twice. Both times there was at least one piece missing from my order. The website said it was in stock when I ordered, but by the time they rolled around to my order, it was gone. I don't like that. I guess I'm super spoiled by fabric.com because their site will let you know. There've been times before on fabric.com that the page says oh, 10 yards are in stock. Well, about 2 seconds apart, me and another unnamed, but faster on the mouse, sewer both want 6 of those yards. She gets her 6, in her shopping cart, and I get a big red warning that there isn't enough fabric in stock to put 6 yards in my cart. I like that a whole lot better. It's just so much more professional I think.

Now, on the other hand, there are other ways to handle that sort of thing. Malden Mill's online store doesn't work like fabric.com either. They sometimes run out before they can fill all the orders. Know what they do? They Call on the phone and apologize, then ask do you want something else to replace what they ran out of. Both of those sites are Great at customer service. I'd much rather give my money to a business like those.

I got the swatches too Phae. Haven't had time to look them over. Just kinda flipped through real quick, and didn't see anything that tripped my trigger.

Me either, Sharon. Most of the swatches in this group (my first) were polyester and/or ugly. I doubt I'll be ordering anything from them. There used to be a Natural Fiber Fabrics Club and they were great. Lately, I've been getting some really nice stuff at very reasonable prices from Denver Fabric and Fabric Mart. The latter has awesome sales on really quality & fashionable stuff and they also ship fast.

Good customer service and accessibility help a lot.

I'm not surprised. Thanks for taking the time to confirm my suspicion.

:I had a terrible experience with the Fashion Fabric Club. I ordered four samples (value $7) and they charged me $26 !!! for shipping to Europe. The package was super light and very small, shouldn't cost even $5 to ship.

I emailed them, expressing my surprise and hoping it was just an error... I never received a reply! awesome customer service, this.

What a complete rip-off, I've never had such a bad internet shopping experience oline, and I do shop a lot online!

The fabrics seems to be the content they do claim on the website, after a burn test, although a couple of the fabrics were not as described (one black turns out to be brown, texture not as described, you get the idea)

Of course I won't be ordering from them, I don't even want to imagine how much they would charge for shipping of a few yards!!

International buyers beware!!
