Fabric Club membership?

I am considering a 'saver' membership at one of our local fabric stores - I have usually only shopped there during their sales times and probably would have saved even more if I'd had the saver card. The only reason that I am thinking about joining is that their fabric (own store brand) has much improved in the last couple of years - it has a meatier hand and the colours are more vibrant. I even picked up a namebrand piece last time I was there. Notion sales are always good ones and recently they stocked Coats Star threads - plain and variegated. As for fabric clubs, I subscribed during one of the shophops specials to an 8fat quarter deal every month and I haven't been disappointed. Cynthia even sent me a pack of 8 half yard cuts one month of fabrics that I probably wouldn't have ordered otherwise (part of the Lapinski line) - I still don't know how I will use them. I opted not to pay by pay-pal and sent her post-dated cheques instead - does that still count towards the cost of stash-building? jennellh

Jennell: What is a saver membership and how does your local shop work this? As to the cost of stash building .... since the checks were post dated, I doubt if that counts!! :)

One of our local craft stores (affiliate of Michael's) has great fabric. It's a small section, but very good. They have two "savings" plans and I've gone for both. The first is that all members of the local quilt guild get 10 percent off all sewing related purchases except for sale merchandise. That one pays for itself as our local guild membership is only $10. The second is a $5 membership in the "Clothesline Club" -- it's one of the fabric lines that has 30s reproduction fabrics. You get a free pattern each month -- and they're really nice patterns -- and each month there's a great member discount. Generally it's 30 percent off. One month it will be any of the reproduction yardage. Another month it will be fat quarter packs or something else. I have enjoyed it.
