Our local show

The show here opened today, and I was so surprised! I'd entered four quilts, thinking that one particular one of them might have a chance at a ribbon, but probably none. The one I thought had a chance didn't win.

*But*! Two others won second place ribbons! I'd never have thought they'd win, since the quilting I'd done wasn't very good. One of them was Circular Logic; scroll down a bit to see its pretty ribbon: . The other was a paper-pieced one; again, scroll down a little: . The two that didn't win are the first two here: ; I'd thought Tucked Up Circles might have a chance, but that will teach me to think. ;)

CONGRATS!!! What a thrill! I love them all- all so different and unique. I think Circular Logic is my fave of those three. But I always have loved bright colors and always loved your beautiful quilts! Cool!

Congrats!! Shows that you never know what a judge will think/see on a certain day.

Well done, Sandy! I'm really glad you did well, because your work is lovely (your quilting is enviable). Don't feel too badly about the two that weren't placed - if you can manage it - because I can tell you that I rarely see any of this kind of work winning in shows I have been to over here. I simply cannot understand it, as they are often so wonderful, It can't just be the limited colour palette, because whole cloth quilts win a lot of times. I agree with you about both your JR pieces, but I think some judges have a way to go! At least you didn't come away empty-handed. . In message , Sandy writes

Congratulations Sandy. I've never entered anything in a show. It must be a huge boost to win two ribbons. I love all of them, but I think Circular Logic is the most striking.

Wow, Sandy, they are all breath-taking. How on earth do they choose? Congradulations on the surprise win!

Thanks, Irene. :) I wasn't on the scribing committee for the judges this year, so I don't know what the decision-making process was like. I'll get the comments back on Sunday evening, though, and that's the primary reason I enter; I love hearing the suggestions the judges make. :)

Thanks, Mel! :) It really is a boost, especially since I didn't really expect any! LOL!

Thanks so much, Pat. :) I'd done a bare minimum of quilting on the two quilts that won ribbons, so that's why I was surprised. You do make me feel better about the JR pieces -- I was so sure these were actually better made than the ones that placed. :) As I'd said, though, I didn't really expect any ribbons at all, so I didn't have any disappointment to deal with. :)

Thanks, Jeanne! :) If you ever do get a chance to take a Jennie class, jump at it! I'd love to do more with her. :)

Thanks, Leslie. :) I guess Circular Logic is more eye-catching than the others, because of the colors.
