has anyone made "satin backed crepe" pants? (crepe back satin, crepe side out!). I just bought myself some and they are wonderful! I am thinking of making some, they would be great for work.
Just looking for advice while making them, anythings to do or not do.
Have not made pants, but have used the fabric for dresses and such. It doesn't shred as much as other fabrics, but you *do* need to be careful. I have some navy that will eventually be made into a dress. I have used it for several projects in the past, and as I mentioned, there is some shredding. I don't see why you would have trouble using it for pants. Only thing I can suggest is to make sure you have proper interfacing (light to light-midweight) or else it will be too stiff. Also, be *very* careful when pressing as you don't want to scorch the fabric.

That helped alot actually! I forgot I need interfacing for the waistband! I have this great vogue pattern, so far I have made one toile of the pants that didn't work out so well, so I have to make another before I buy some satin!

have made tons of little satin dresses and cute things for my kids and for other kids, but never pants. This will be fun, even if I don't do it for a few years!
back crepe won't give you that tailored look. You'd do better with a wool or wool mix crepe in a suit weight. If you want a more flowing mood, a wider style with less waist detail would be better. Think:
