I love the fabric! Is it silk or is fuzzy? Hard to tell from the picture. You did a nice job. My brother just sent me 4 yards of an african tie-dyed print and that dress is just the ticket. Do you think it would work well in cotton? While I was on your site, I snuck a peek at your other pictures. Your children are adorable. I haven't seen their photos in a couple of years. That baby sure grew up fast. And the Queen Elizabeth dress is just fab. I went to my first ren faire in Oct. (Texas ren faire) and fell in love with the costumes. If we stay here another year, I am going to dress up for next years show.

Actually, it's a crinkled rayon fabric with silkessence for the neckling, waist and skirt hem. The sleeve bands are made out of a lining fabric because I changed my mind about which view I wanted to make . I definitely think it would work up nicely in cotton...in fact, I'm going to make another one using cottons once the crush of finishing projects ends (hopefully by the end of the month). I would check out
Not to worry about "sneaking" looks at the other pictures. Yes, the "baby" has defintely grown up. She's now 3.5 yrs old and going to preschool 2 day a week. Next year she will be going 3 days a week. My darling boy is going to be 7 at the end of the month....where has the time gone??!!???
I started going to the MD renaissance Faire in my teens and once I was hooked, made a new costume every year. I have no place special to wear the Elizabethan costume, just wanted to do something with all the fabrics that I had accumulated - total is over 35 yards (including dress fabric, lining, and tulle/netting...NOT including lace and other trims...and not counting beading under nything!).
Making costumes for faire is always fun....I probably have patterns that I could send off to you if you decide you want to make one for yourself.

Larisa,I recently bought the same McCall's pattern to make an Easter dress for myself. I haven't done it yet, because with the two deaths in the family recently, I have gotten behind on some of DGD's sewing and must do those first. You know how an 8YO expects things regardless. Luckily, her Mom bought their Easter outfits earlier, so I am not doing a dress for her for that occasion. Emily
Thanks Larisa, I have collected several patterns (the make your own style ones). I probably even have fabric. Just haven't had the time to start early enough. My brother has played the MD ren faire every year for the last 10 years I think. He did not play last year as his duo group split up. They were called Bedlam Boys. I loved their sound! He is now with the Guy Mendalow group (not sure about spelling) but I don't think they do ren faires..
