Well done! In spite of all the pain, it looks great. If she doesn't like it (and that shouldn't be even a remote possibility!), I'll be glad to come down and take it off your hands.

The pattern suggests using the two sided fusible Pellon Peltex, which might be a bit lighter than the one I used. It is wider than the Timtex but was 7.99 at Joann's (before coupons). I already had two rolls of the Timtex here, so I spliced it together. I also had all the fabrics in my stash. The plaids for the bias were fat quarters that I also had....and I buy very few plaids. So other then buying the pattern, I used everything else from my stash. I'll have to think twice before tackling this again.

Aw shucks Pollly...thank you! I bought the pattern during my multi state shop hop. There was one made up at a quilt shop and they were offering a class. I wonder if there are some tips and tricks I could have learned!

Your friend is one lucky duck. That is gorgeous. And yes, I can see how stitching through layers of Timtex would be difficult. I'm glad you persevered, and I bet your friend will be too.

Thanks Sunny. I used a huge needle (100) in my machine to stitch through all the stabilizer layers.

OOOO -- what a greast bag :-). I'm wondering why you had to hand sew the bias edging and not use the machine? If I couldn't use the machine, I think I would have been tempted to use iron on strips or one of the fabric glues! Just thinking about working with that stiff, stabilized fabric makes my "parts" hurt. You did a wonderful job -- it's quite lovely. If your friend doesn't like the bag, I can give it a warm, loving home :-)))). CiaoMeow >^;;^<

I'm "picky" about my bias bindings. I have yet to ever machine stitch one that looks perfectly even on the opposite side. And since the inside shows so much on this, I wanted it even "perfecter". :-) I did use some glue to keep everything in place while I hand stitched it. I didn't think fused or glued only would hold up to everyday use of the bag. The pattern instructions say to hand OR machine stitch the bias bindings on. So I assume someone has good success with that method. But it's not me. I'm excited to see everyone's reaction to it tomorrow. Last night was our guild meeting. It was tempting to take it for show and tell, but I didn't want to blow the surprise.
