Machine or serger?

With the assistance of DH I've cut and matched up all my lengths for my tab tops. Now it's time to sew. Each panel is 2 lengths and I can't decide if I should put them together using the sewing machine or serger. The serger is faster but I'm inclined to think I'll get a nicer seam with the sewing machine. I'm open to suggestions. Juno

Sewing machine! I only use the serger on curtains for neatening the raw hem ends before sewing up using the blind hem stitch on the sewing machine. If you are using a width and a half and have no selvage to sew together, use the serger to neaten the cut edge and then do an open seam on the sewing machine. They look and hang so much better that it's worth the extra time.

That's what I thought but I wanted to get another opinion. I'm using 2 full widths so I'll have the selvage to use as a guide. I may take off some of hte selvage edges first with the serger though. They are fringey looking rather than a tight edge. Looks a bit messy to me. Juno
