I just read the neatest suggestion for a gift, in Dear Abby. A lady had an elderly aunt with failing eyesight. She could no longer write in straight lines, and was unable to continue her correspondence with friends.
She asked a friend to create some stationary. Her friend removed the thread from her sewing machine needle, and "sewed" lines half an inch apart on the back of each page. She did the same on the envelopes, but only four lines, where the address would go.
The lines of tiny bumps could be "read" by her aunt, allowing her to write legibly and her friends and the postal service could once again read her writing.
What an amazing and wonderful solution this niece came up with!
