Old Necchi-Alco

My husband purchased a Necchi-Alco model "A 509 B-2" machine at a thrift store. He was told it works good, but the thread from the bobbin won't come through to the top. I adjusted the tension, but still doesn't work. What could be wrong? Also, it does not have an owner's manual.Any suggestions?

Try turning the needle around and also making sure that you're turning the handwheel in the correct direction. The correct direction is the one that makes the feed dogs move fabric from the front to the back of the machine.

The needle is likely not inserted properly. Did you get the manual with it?

Sorry! I just re-read your note that stated you didn't get the manual (that's what happens when reading usenet late at night....)

they may have a manual or threading diagram.

A manual is the most important 'tool' you can get for a sewing machine

- it shows you the threading diagrams (upper and lower), maintenance, use, etc.
