Slip-proof Hangers

Anyone know of anything you can put on the shoulders of wooden hangers to keep blouses slipping off them? I've tried self-stick felt cut into

1/4 wide strips and then placed on the lower 1/3 of the coat hangers with moderate success.

I do have some Wal Mart brand Huggable Hangers. If any of you are familiar with the shopping channel HSN, these are sold over there.

Hope the link works properly. These aregreat for those slippery garments and I would like to make my woodenhangers slip-proof, too. I've thought about narrow strips of velvet onthe shoulders of the hangers, but not sure this would work. It appearsthere is some sort of velvet or flocking on the Wal Mart brand ofHuggable Hangers, but not sure.Anyone have any suggestions?

I recently had several gowns professionally dry-cleaned, and when I picked them up the cleaners had put very thin strips of foam over the wire hangers to keep the garments from slipping off. Perhaps something like the self-adhesive foam you can buy at home improvement stores to insulate around windows and doors might work for this purpose???

Save the rubber bands off broccoli, wrap around the hangers. Might take

2-3 turns to use up the rubber band.

Hey, both of these sound like very good ideas, although I would have to eat a truckload or two of broccoli to have enough of those strong rubber bands. :-) And the foam insulation sounds very good, too. I have some of that around the house.............somewhere. I'll give that a try on one or two hangers to see how it works out.

Thanks ever so much!

Contact a local dry cleaner and ask if they will sell you some "Foamies", the name for the foam covers commercial dry cleaners/laundries use to cover hangers to keep items from slipping off. If you are willing to order a job lot, contact a dry cleaner supply company and order direct. Again you will probably have to order a box or even a case, but maybe you can ask some others to go in with you to divide the costs.

Try some of the 'slip-proof shelf liner'. I got a roll at a dollar store and use pieces under the foot control of my serger and SMs. DS uses same under tools in drawers. A narrow strip over a hanger ought to work but i haven't tried it. I would simply run the hook through one of the holes, fold down and run a basting thread to keep the cover on.
