Anyone working on anything?

I am mostly busy sewing, making some fall and winter clothes, but the asthma has subsided enough that I now feel I can knit while watching the tv news. Nothing complicated, mind you, just something to keep the fingers busy. So, I pulled out an old pattern - from the 1960s I think, I bought it at a yard sale - for knitted slippers in two colors. Found some leftover yarn, made a swatch, and, if all goes well, some people will be getting knitted slippers for Christmas.

I made a mitten on my knitting machine. I made the smallest size just to try it out. It's so cute. Got to thinking I should make a couple in wool and felt them. They'd be cute ornaments.

The Changing weather patterns, made me realize that a front open light sweater would be very practical , thus i am knitting myself one [ in Eggplant color]. mirjam

I'm working on a pair of socks with 100% undyed alpaca! (I hadn't made traditional socks for a VERY long time, so I made a baby sock first as a sample.) When I make socks, I do both at once, alternating between them section at a time, so they are finished at the same time. This pair is at the stage of knitting the foot length, en route to the toe shaping. I may or may not make more socks, but I have plenty of yarns for socks, and double sets of needles in most of the wee little sizes. This small knitting binge is a break in piecing a quilt (72 bits of fabric in each 12" block, and 81 blocks for the quilt, all 100% hand work).

Ooh, that sounds lovely.

I'm currently knitting socks for myself, and trying to find a nice scarf pattern for my father-in-law's girlfriend. You see, several years ago I made everyone scarves for Christmas, but that was before my mother-in-law died, so Eileen didn't get one. I know she'd appreciate one - she crochets and sews, and can knit but doesn't much, so I really want to find the right pattern. I have some cotton chenille that would be perfect, I was thinking maybe a cable pattern. I need to get started soon, though, or it will never be done in time.

I just finished the Kimono Shawl designed by Cheryl Oberle. If you are on Ravelry you can take a peek here. I'm now knitting the same pattern as a scarf, but using 10 horizontal repeats to make it narrower.

've knit two slouchy berets from this pattern...one in steel blue andone in royal purple. If you want lots of slouch knit 2 extra patternrepeats.

Mary have you tried working on 2 circulars needles. i thought it impossible for a long while, than looked closely at a UTUBE where they demonstrate it, and now knit all my sleeves in this method... thus you knit 2 round items at the same time. mirjam

Thank you Lynne. since i am knitting downwards i have time to think about the finish and am considering maybe opening the the underpart slowly towards the sides more like an elongated bolero .....still have some knitting to do before reaching that point. Strange that with time i am glad to knit with thinner wools....something i didn`t like 20 years ago. mirjam

With me time has made me really think about the quality of yarn I use. I use to be a Red Heart Acrylic person. I really didn't know any better. I was scratchy and I didn't want it next to my skin. Now my eyes are open to the wide world of fibers. Right now I have a vest I'm making out of corn yarn. I'm finishing up a scarf made with mohair. I'm going to make some mittens and a hat out of some really nice super washed hand dyed wool. Yes, the fibers cost quite a bit more, but the outcome is so much nicer.

Don't get me wrong I am making an aphgan out of some Bernat acrylic, so I haven't given up on cheaper yarns all together.

I'm new here so I'm just jumping in if that's ok. I hail from the State of Washington and it's cold!

I just finished a pair of felted slippers that unfortunately did not fit my aunt. But they fit me and now another will have to be made. I'm also working on a crochet hat. It's a cute pattern that I found on the web but it's also one of those "am I really gonna wear this hat?" thingie.

My name is Donna, 2 kids all grown up and on their on and I'm single (hate the word divorce!)

Hope to get to know you all soon. I've been knitting since my gramma taught me when I was 9. Learned to crochet on my own.

So, hello!
