Unique Patterns

Has anyone here used Unique Patterns? Are they worth the money and the membership fee?

That subject has been discussed here before, at least as far back as 1995. Here is a link to the Google archives:

> HTH,

Geeeeeeeeez, Beverly, what's with you lately, you're becoming down right nasty, mean and RUDE! How about if you can't be nice and helpful just keep it to yourself. No wonder new people leave here like their hair was on fire.

>> > HTH,

Exactly when did providing a link to the archives, so that someone could see what has previously been discussed, become "nasty, mean and RUDE!"??? It was my intent to be "nice and helpful"...

This subject does pop up from time to time and for the life of me I can't remember all that was said about it. All I can tell you is what I and my friends think, and will happily do so.

I have had friends that have tried Unique Patterns, among them one is a Husqvarna teacher another teaches sewing at a Community College, and none of these people were all that impressed. I have tried several custom pattern programs (but not Unique Patterns) and systems. All of the gals, myself included have become Wild Ginger fans. NAYY Have you looked at this program yet?

nice thing about it is that you can try it out using an inexpensive 'click & sew' pattern of your choice. They have excellent customer & technical support no matter what you have purchased. On their web site there is also a "Wild Things!" free download that will give you an idea of how their system works and cool things to actually make, it's my favorite "I need to make a special gift" program. If you like the click & sew pattern and decide to upgrade to one of their complete systems they used to give you credit for what you had already spent. I bought this system years ago and what is now a single system covering women, men, children where separate, I bought all three before they combined them. There is also, or was, a lingerie program, I got that, too. I haven't bought a garment pattern in years!

Good luck with your search, don't be afraid to ask lots of questions before you make a major investment. You might also give a shout over at rec.crafts.textiles.sewing and see if anyone can give you more opinions on Unique Patterns.

>>> HTH,

Val,

Why would you think Beverly's response was rude? There probably is information in the archived posts that wouldn't be repeated, and nothing prevents anyone from adding a new opinion.

I've never seen anything from Beverly that I would characterize as nasty, mean or rude. Well, maybe she's been a little snippy to a spammer or two. :;

"BEI Design" scribbled while perusing news:pMydnS1GapklsF_YnZ2dnUVZ snipped-for-privacy@comcast.com:

I'll check it out, Bev. I'm thinking about WildGinger too, but not in a big hurry for either one. I do pretty well with store-bought patterns, but the body is changing and it might be nice to do custom.

No problem, apology accepted. I do realize I am quite capable of being rude/snotty/mean/nasty on occasion, but I usually reserve that treatment for spammers. :-}

In this case I may have erred by adding the "at least as far back as 1995." However, it was not my intention to denigrate the OP's request for information.

Thanks Doreen. I think Val misinterpreted what I wrote, and she has apologized, and I accepted her apology, so no harm, no foul. I admit, I did a search on my recent posts to see what I might have written recently, to elicit such a response. I'm no angel.... :-\

I have also toyed with the idea, Don. So far I'm familiar enough with my body to make necessary adjustments to commercial patterns. Now if I lose weight, all bets are off! ;-)

>>> HTH,

Oh dear...in Beverly's defense, I didn't think her response was rude at all! What's wrong with pointing someone in the 'right' direction to read an entire discussion on their topic, and at their leisure...

Although it was not my intention to be rude or snarky, I can see, in re-reading what I wrote, how someone might have come to that conclusion. I should not have added the bit: "That subject has been discussed here before, at least as far back as 1995." It was unnecessary.

All I wanted to do was point OP in the direction of the previous discussion, so that if she had further unanswered questions she would be "up to speed".

Val and I have made up.... ;-)

Sorry, Val, I shouldn't have jumped in before you had a chance to reconsider.
