OT: about Don

Just a quick report for those who might be interested:

Blood pressure: PERFECT Cholesterol: high enough that they're worried. (nevermind that his oncologist and radiology oncologist had told him that his cholesterol was the LEAST of concerns, and that he needs to eat good for STRENGTH, lol!) Anyway, they WANT to prescribe ZoCor, however, we're going to try diet, niacin, flax seed and One-a-Day Chol. formula first... if that doesn't lower it, then they'll prescribe in 4 months and send him to a nutritionist/dietician (rotflmao, like **I** don't know this!) Also, he's being referred to dermatology as well, as he has indices of actinic keratosis on the radiated side of his face... This can be a pre-curser to skin cancer. Hugs, Noreen who is most concerned about the actinic keratosis, as is sister Nan, RN.

Thanks, Gem! Never underestimate that power! As I was telling Nora offlist, there's SO much we have to keep an eye on now.... chemo is dangerous to the heart, radiation dangerous to the skin... etc, etc, etc... Hugs, Noreen

thanks, Karen! He really is NOT 'worried' about the cholesterol thing, whatwith my sis being a cardiology nurse and me being an info-magnet, and having dealt with 'that' issue with my mom for aaaaaaagggggggggeeeeeeeeessssss, but I think he's as concerned as I am about the skin thing... His cancer team has been very careful, checking him with what they call a mugga test for his heart before they even began chemo, and checks during administration of it as well. He came back 'good' both before, during and after! Hugs, Noreen

Noreen, I would love to go into Nashville and see the Charlie Daniels Band at the fireworks. I sold my house Wed. after being on the market for 45 days so now I have to find a new place to live. There is always some work to do and not much time for fun. Are you coming into Nashville? Carol in TN

Gosh, I'd LOVE to go to the Charlie Daniels concert and the fireworks, but I don't THINK we'll get there this year. I'm reasonably sure we're going to a potluck picnic in Liberty, near Alexandra. Hugs, Noreen PS, congrats on a 45 day turnover!!!
