Openwork Sweater Pattern Request (Crochet or Knit)

Hi All,



I was wondering if anyone could point me in the direction of a easy openwork short sleeved sweater pattern. I am more familiar with crochet but wouldn't mind trying to knit one though.



I'd like free, but if it's a good pattern I'd pay a little for it.



I'm between a 14 and 16 US dress size, I usually like XL tops (I like them a little loose).



I was thinking of doing this in black with a tank top underneath. I live in Florida so long sleeves are not wanted.



I prefer a cotton or soft, washable yarn that's not expensive as I am not rich. 8-) I am not yet good at substituting yarn so I thought I'd mention my yarn preference.

I can't think of one off the top of my head, but you might try checking the free pattern sites at

. Also Cascade has free patterns listed at

has some also. If you can find something in there that is of the style you are looking for, you can work with finding a substitute yarn that is of the same gauge. Also, if you have a library nearby, I have found that to be a good source of pattern books.

).This is not a free pattern, it's a for-sale pattern through yarn shops andmail order, but I do recall seeing the Lightening Lace in a past issue ofCast-On magazine. Hope that helps!

has a free pattern that goes with cotton yarn they have onsale. The free pattern can be printed off their website. I don't knowif it is anyting like what you are looking for but it does seem to comein the right size. I don't know how you would rate the cost of theyarn - but it is on sale.
