Went to that site to see this new pattern and I feel that anyone who'd wear that is just asking for trouble.

If you click on the Free Patterns link, it's shown again on the designer *over* another full shirt. There are also tons of others! Some of them are really cute! :o)

I thought my teen granddaughter would like the ribbon x-back but I am not sure the ribbon I have would substitute well for that in the pattern - I might have to do some pattern adjustments after swatching. She tends to wear layers of tanks/sports bras/camisoles etc. It looks like a lot more work than my t-shirt over standard bra - but then, I am several generations past worrying about who is looking.

I often find one or two patterns on knitty worth considering and a few that I feel belong in the ugly contest - I have made several (haiku for instance) and the ones I used worked out well.

It's okay. I get it now. I just went to the site and saw their "cover" pattern. Ugh.

As afar as I'm concerned, if my arms are cold enough to need a sweater, then my back, neck and middle need it, too.

Just a comment... ...I have to go to the hairdresser; this is inspiration! Typical "textile hair style"! I BET the pupils will have trouble to recognize me!! Aud ;-))

Isn't that a hoot? Reminds me of a spinning friend who calls her dread locks "Handspun Hair".

My thoughts exactly, Aud! I might not wear the sweater but I *must* have the hairstyle!

I actually like the idea of it, I often wear fingerless long "sleeves" with short-sleeved tops, and this seems like an extension of it. But only as a cover-up, I can't imagine wearing it by itself like in the cover picture, and I doubt I'd want it in that bulky of yarn. There is something similar in Pam Allen's SCARF STYLE book, except it is a turtleneck with sleeves (no body, just sleeves connected with a turtleneck). To me, they all seem like variations of the shrug which looks like it may become this year what the poncho was last year. Just my two cents.

It also reminded me of an incomplete shrug when I first saw it. I believe I had seen that turtleneck with sleeves, too. Then again,it might be good for layering for warmth, but I think I'd probably want it under a jacket or something, unless it really matched the clothing worn with it.

OK I will check Eimear out for her great new hair style...I do not have enough hair to even try it....LOL and I am shivering looking at the bare mid rif.....brrrrr....LOL

Great Lunch Eimear, I am working on a teaching spinning weekend, there are two other women who would like to learn, and both work as well. Will keep you posted on it, keeping in mind your working hours.

No problem today, Els! I have short hair as you, but now they just "weld" long enough hair on the short one; You can choose whatever you like! Finally we are free to look just as we fancy!LOL!

AUD, crocheting babysitter tonight! My tote, which I was not too happy with, was turned sideways, and look now more like a bag ;-)) And is now OK I think. I just now work with the handles, done the "Mirjam way".

Sounds a lot like:" done the Els way", as well.

I am knitting a scarf lengthwise, for a friend of one of our DD. Doing it in two different thicknesses, I was working with two different knitting needles. I am now going to rip it out and use the thinner one. For the fat recycled sary yarn I am going to wrap it once, so I still get a larger stitch, but for the black butterfly cotton I will just knit, with out a wrap. Time will tell if this is going to work better. I have never been very good in sticking to a pattern....LOL Making it work is my motto

I don't think I have enough hair to do it either, Els, and I know I could never tolerate all the goop that would be needed to keep it in place!

That's wonderful, Els! Thank you! I'll e-mail you about it.

Eimear PS I really enjoyed lunch too, and seeing your weaving room with all the windows.

Yes, making it work! Then there will be some froging from time to time. But at the same time it will always be quite a bit of excitement in it. "Will it work better this way?" I have saved lots of patterns from the net. But I also ask google for pictures from "knitted bag", "knitted purse","knitted tote"...or crochet. I copy the pictures I think are interesting, and save them in a document called "knitted bags and purses". Lots of inspiration. But I like best to do them "my own way", it is easier for me.

The Sari yarn must be very thrilling to see the result from! I can imagine that wrapping it will give a good effect!

Good morning here and good evening for you Aud.

The sari recycled yarn is beautiful. It nearly is a end product if you know what I mean. I yarn that perfect is hard to work with colour wise. It is a single spun yarn, and that is a bit of a problem. It has a lot of extra twist in it and it turns back on itself when you work with it. It is absolutely a horror to rip it out after you have knitted with it. Better to do a right the first time around. I have two skeins of it, and I am contemplating spinning a fine silk single thread with the same twist direction and plying the two together for the second skein. Yes for the spinners in the group, I do have a wheel with a very large orfice that can handle that thickness. I am combining the sari yarn, deep reds and related colours, with a good black cotton yarn for the knitted scarf. The black tones the sari colours down a bit. It seems to work for me. When it gets all done I will send you a picture Aud.

Have a nice evening

DD#2's hair threatens to do that on a DAILY basis. I have yet to convince her to let me put it in a braid at night to avoid the SNARLS in the morning!
