Wow...first week of Jan is almost over...hard to believe:O!!

I have been trying to make an attempt to challenge myself with my beads (both in color and design)...I have found my self in such a rut!! Does anyone else find that to be a problem!?!? I even do that with my stringing.

Hope to break free:D!!

Here is a recent set of mine...take a peek if you like!!

That is a really sweet set, Cindy. I like the variation in shape and texture of the beads.

Don't worry about being in a 'rut', you're just finding some things comfortable to make.

I sometimes take sets of glass and give them to Mike and ask him to use colours he hasn't normally thought of using. Maybe you have someone you can ask to do that, let them set the challenge for you?

Hi Cindy, why not try making beads using only one method of decor? If you try making beads for a whole day using say..only spots, by the end of the day it could push you into a whole new direction, or maybe a whole new bead style? You never know.

This is a good idea. It reminds me of when I work with seed beads. I'll take a basic pattern or design. Since I pull out all sorts of colors to decide exactly what I want, I have all the materials to make variations out as well. I'll have a variation with color blending, and color contrast, gold vs silver, etc. I do it with lampwork designs too, to a lesser degree. Makes sense that the same kind of playing would work well for making lampwork.

That's a pretty set, Cindy! I have been having that same trouble. I like flowers, so I just keep making them. I tried to take your advice, and make only one type of decor at a time, and keep trying. But I get bored if I stick to only one type of decor in one sitting, though!

But I tried it. Yesterday, I only made black/white, or ivory/white styles. (Except for two roses!, just couldn't quite...)

(I;m Cindy too!)
