Almost scared me to death: OT

Sep 07, 2003 13 Replies

It's 4 AM here, and I'm up all alone trying to get the basement ready for the plumbing guys to come and replace my stack, which is cracked all the way from the basement to the second floor. All of a sudden, I hear a noise. I look around and see that the door to the infamous Scary Room is shaking. Then it's shaking harder and harder... Banging like someone has hold of the doorknob on the inside and is trying to get out. (There is a hook/eye latch on the outside of that door, for whatever reason).

Completely freaked me out. Heart started pounding, couldn't breathe. I ran upstairs and woke Prairieson up and told him something was trying to get out of the scary room, and could he come with me to check it out. He did.

We scooted to the basement, he grabbed the flashlight. The door began to pound even more enthusiastically than before! "Something definitely trying to get out of there", he says. Slowly... He unlatches the door... pushes it open a wee bit... Holds the flashlight at the ready... And out comes...

Whitman.

The little butthead had climbed into the ceiling in the laundry room, crossed over to the ceiling above the scary room, then fell through the ceiling to the floor and couldn't get out. He's still a baby, but he's not a meower, so pounding was the only way he could think of to get our attention.

Geez. My heart is still freaking.

I can keep you company...i'm up with a sick kid...lol

Aw.... That's not good. Poor little one. Both of you take care!

Lol!! Poor Tink! Poor Whitman!

Back when hubby and I were dating, he had an apartment with two roomates, and they had a cat. One night, she went through the bathroom cabinet, underneath the sink, into the next apartment. The wife woke up the next morning and let out a scream. The cat was sitting on the headboard, above them, just staring at them.

Well, at least he tried to get your attention.

I can't count the times I freaked because Jessica went "missing," only to find that I had shut her in a closet an hour previously. She'd just sit in there quietly until I'd think to search the closets.

Of course, she scared *herself* one day when she sneaked out into the hall (we live in an apartment). The Professor didn't notice that she'd just gone out between his legs, and shut the door behind himself. It was two hours before we noticed that she wasn't pestering us. Looked in all the closets: no cat.

Just for laughs, I checked the hall door, and, sure enough, she comes slinking in, all terrified.

Funny, but she never wanted to go hall exploring ever afterward...

LOL! Does anyone here remember when Boo did that back when we lived in an apartment on the 9th floor?

MUH HA HA! Great story.

This had me in fits of laughter. Hysterical.

LOL - poor Tink!! I can't believe your cat climbed through the ceiling! I wonder what was up there that he wanted so darn bad?

Whose wouldn't be ...

Glad you found the cause was natural instead of supernatural, tho ... And that you had the sense to go for backup...

Yikes! Would have scared me too- glad Whitman was rescued though!

So did y'all hear on the news about the inmate who was taken to the courthouse to go before the judge? He tried to escape by crawling through the ceiling from the bathroom. He crashed through said ceiling to the floor. Right in front of the judge's desk.>
