AD: Loribeads - Crystal Sorbet & my life

Hi guys! Happy Memorial Day weekend to everyone!!! I love having an extra day to hang out with the hubby. Next week is going to be a doozy so I am enjoying the down time while I can.

Desiree is going to be in a friend's wedding on Thursday. Well, the whole thing has been a money pit for us since Des is going to college and isn't working. Dresses, shoes, hair, hotel rooms, wedding gifts, bachelorette parties, cha-ching, cha-ching, cha-ching. And, the wedding is out of town so Des will miss school as well. Anyway, the moral of this story is ... if someone asks you to be in their wedding, run. Run far, far away.

In other news, I can feel Puppy's ribs!!! YAY! Maybe I'd better explain that a bit for those who are not so familiar with my personal life. I have a dachshund, The Puppy. Yeah, I know it's a lame name. Anyway, Puppy is a snackaholic. She will wheedle you out of whatever you are eating with her winning personality and a well placed paddle-paw. Well, we took her to the vet in December and she was topping the scales at 16 pounds. Oh my. That's not good. She was waddling. I was sure I could feel a rib but only if I prodded for about 10 minutes like a 1st year med student looking for a pulse on a cadaver. The vet said I need to have her lose "a couple pounds" (he was being nice). So, first we removed access to all extraneous food. She was not allowed to nibble on the cat food any longer. (My elderly cat, Red, passed away the day after Christmas so I no longer needed to keep the food on ground-level for him) And we changed her food to the extravagant Royal Canin Light small nuggets. Only one cup per day (I mean it!) Mark - aka "the weak one" - was no longer allowed to share his late night dinners with Puppy. We did away with the whole "just one bite of pepperoni for the puppy". Along with the radical change in diet, we increased her exercise dramatically. She learned to play fetch. We found some great hiking trails in Santa Cruz and Palo Alto and made day trips every weekend. I am pleased to report that it has totally worked. Puppy has a waist again. She is full of energy and looks fit as a fiddle. Now if I could only apply this technique to Mark and I.....
