AD: Pink lentils

Here's my ad for the week. I'm cranking out the beads to bring to the Bead Affaire on Saturday - my second bead show. Wish me luck! Thanks.

You're almost making me like pink again.... I especially like the spotty ones.

Good luck at the show! I look forward to seeing any leftovers you may have next week :)

I can't bid. It keeps telling me my eBay ID is not valid.

THIS could be affecting sales, everyone who's an eBay seller. It's not the first time it's happened to me this week, either. ~~ Sooz To live a creative life, we must lose our fear of being wrong. ~~Joseph Chilton Pearce

I just adore this trend toward transparent colors in lampwork..... shimmering, clear slices of color, flattened squares or rounds. It will transform jewelry-making, too. Lovely liquid jewels. ~~ Sooz To live a creative life, we must lose our fear of being wrong. ~~Joseph Chilton Pearce

Oh, crap! That would explain a LOT for me, actually.

I'm so happy I'm not the only one loving that! A couple of months ago I made this major shift away from focusing on technique, and toward focusing on color and design; simple designs with all the "Wow" being in the color application. It seems to be growing into a real trend, and I couldn't be more pleased! I am learning more than I ever thought possible from this step toward pure design; it's really helping me artistically. A year ago I would have scoffed at single-color beads as being "easy", but now I'm able to recognize that the difficulty of producing the vision is not necessarily the crucial creative point. HAVING the vision is.

I think that the movement away from complexity of technique and toward design perfection is a new landmark in the maturation of lampwork as an art form. People have pushed (and are still pushing) the envelope of "what can I do?" and are moving toward the stage of "In what way shall I do it?"

Yes! This is fabulous for the buyer/jewelry-maker, too. (At least for some of us, I guess.) You're so eloquent, Kalera. All I can think of is grunting, "Barg like beads! Barg want beads!"

That happened to someone else here, I think. Boy, ebay is sucky.

eBay will recognize me for other things -- Watch list, My eBay, etc. I am unable to bid on anything because I don't exist, though. Could explain a lot for sellers, dearth of sales. ~~ Sooz To live a creative life, we must lose our fear of being wrong. ~~Joseph Chilton Pearce

I think it might have been Peggy trying to bid on another auction I had up last week. She had a hard time. Sheesh. I hope it gets resolved quickly.

You are so eloquent sometimes. I admire that in you. Simple is sometimes harder than fancy to do well. Its easier to see the flaws in. Diana

Yes, I wanted to bid on both your sets last week, and I did have trouble. For some reason I could bid on the lavender set but not the clear. Persistence paid off, though. I was finally able to bid on the clear set several days later, and those Artic Ice beads are now MINE!!

Ironically, I was outbid on the lavender set. Someone else jumped in and stole them from me right at the end of the auction. Someone for whom eBay was working. Ah, well. Now bidding is even more exciting than it used to be...

Maybe this is just eBay's way of adding to the fun of bidding... "Will I be able to get on? Will I be able to bid? Will I be able to pay if I win? It's a crapshoot!"

Making the thrill of winning ever so much sweeter... ;)

I love you Kalera. You can put into words what I feel in my heart with such perfection. For me, this movement in lampwork is a blessing. I am more enraptured at the color combinations and layers in beads than I am the complicated designs. Simple, crisp beads in juicy colors make my heart pound. And the depth that can be achieved by simply layering two or three transparent colors in one bead is just transfixing. Is that even a word? Hypnotic then. Stick some flowers on top and I am a satisfied woman. :D
