AD & request

All,

Just 5 more hours left on 4 auctions for kits/sets and another day on the rest. No bids on any yet.

I know I recieved one comment on them earlier that some of the pictures were too dark. Do you think there is anything else wrong with them (eg prices too high, people don't like seed-beads in combination with larger items)? Most of them have a starting price way below what the materials cost me originally. I have gallery pictures on 6 of them, but didn't purchase any other special options.

Thoughts?

Thanks!

I think your prices are totally fine. I think the main problem is that your pics are very very hard to see. Use a white or light background, and take the pics under natural light with no flash. That should help define color and brighten the pics a bit.

Kandice,

Thanks!

I never have time to do this during the day time.

Do you think that if I use several lamps with natural light bulbs it will do the same?

Yes - I use one fluorescent light and one regular light to get a balance.

Kandice,

Thanks!

If you think the sets are otherwise good, I guess I will retake the pictures and relist. Not sure there is still much of a chance at selling hearts, but oh well. I hope I can at least recoup my eBay listing fees at some point :)

Thanks again for your advice,

They are waaaaay too dark. Shooting them on a dark wood table top was not a good idea. You can't tell what the beads look like. That's your problem, not the prices as far as I can tell. Get a nice light gray background and shoot on that! I think your sales will see a large jump almost immediately. Barbara Dream Master

Hearts are still going strong - I think they'll sell if you re-do the pics.

Marisa, I have purchased kits from you and have had a lot of fun with them. A couple are up on my picturetrail and one is for sale. I think you take a beating on the price already. Lowering them won't help you.

I didn't know you had any up this time. I skip read the group and missed it. blah

Have to run, sickie dd is a whimpering.

Marisa,

They seem nice enough, but I think your shipping is a little high. I love some of the pendant pieces.

Yeh, I think so too..

I usually don't even bother looking any further if the pics are no good..

Also...if you can gauge sizes somehow.. that would be good... :)

If you use "daylight" color compact fluorescents, you can get really great pics... and they're CHEEEP! Like, $12.

Margie,

Oh, cool! I've long wanted to see what someone did with my kits.

Oh, thanks so much for advertising my site also!!!!

I hope that DD feels better soon... nothing serious I hope?

All,

Thanks so much for your comments! I was thinking about giving up on the idea of selling stuff this way... now I'm excited about retaking some of the pictures and relisting, and maybe putting together some new sets and taking better pix of those this weekend!

Thanks again,

Is adding a dime (or whatever) plus mentioning the size in the text good?

I am trying to make the layouts a little free-form so I don't want to include a ruler. Or is that a silly idea?

Thanks!

Glad you finally got to see a couple and I should put a link to advertise your auctions too. When I put up the link to your site you didn't have any going. Picturetrail has a neat feature for adding one URL but with a little knowledge of code (believe me, I only have a little!) I can add the auctions too.

Dd is running one of those low grade fevers (100.5 yesterday) that precede a nasty cold. She's down to 99 today. Thank you, she's getting better.

Only if you have a white balance feature on your camera, or appropriate filters. All lights give off different colours that show wildly under cameras and will either be very yellow, or very blue.

Margie,

I don't know anything about picturetrail but let me know if you need any HTML help :)

I only see one piece with one of my kits ("set and match"). Am I missing any others? I love the "Turquios Dreams" necklace!

I am glad dd doesn't have a high fever. There seem to be two or three colds/flues running around right now :/

Charlie,

I think there is a white-balance feature on my camera, but I definately don't know how to use it. It is a digital camera. Do you have any suggestions?

Thanks!

Thank you! I added your eBay sales to the second picture which also had a link to your site. So you'll all set where that's concerned.

Oh the other is in the jewelry album, the hematite and terra cotta. I made this one for me and have requests by others to make one for them. Three of my nephews love it! Two already have theirs, the other is going to have to wait for his birthday. See what you started?

She was miserable yesterday and during the night. Woke up several times. ugh Today she's snappish which indicates that she's feeling better and will just have the cold.

I volunteer in dd's class and you wouldn't believe the runny noses, sneezes and coughs. I'm surprised dd didn't get one sooner. Could be the hand washing that is encouraged by her teacher and volunteers has had a good effect.
