any opinions/experience with ecrater?

Hi all,

I came across a non-local post on Craigslist that came from somebody with a shop on Ecrater. I looked at the site, and it says it's free (to set up a shop, list and sell). As I don't pay for advertising or listing, I'm interested in that. I found out that you can pay for special positioning, but I'm not sure that can be all that finances the site, so I'm worried that they may be selling their sellers email addresses or some such (some people call me paranoid while others tell me "rightly so" (DH calls that orthonoid))

Do any of you have any experiences with or opinions about Ecrater?

Thanks, Maren HiloBeads: Beads - Beading Supplies - Hand-made Jewelry

Hi Maren. I haven't heard of Ecrater. Interesting name. I have a website on Ruby Lane. I learned quickly that the term "listing" has a limited meaning. You might be charged things like monthly maintenance and per-click fees, a commission on your sales, handling fees, I think there's more. shawn

Was told about another free one, buyitsellit.com, by somebody over at Lampwork Etc. . They have an account on Ecrater and don't get extra spam, so when I find the time I may set up something on one or the other or both. Me finding time is another matter, of course.

The trouble with site that we've never heard of is that even if they're free, few other have heard of them either.

If it gets indexed on Google well, does it matter? (This is a honest question). I have gotten inquiries (and sometimes orders) from completely out of the area people from ads I put on Craigslist, sometimes rather big orders too. If you find clove seedlings at the Lavender Festival in Portland OR, the order for those seeds came from a Big Island Craigslist post.

So, still somewhat quizzical about it.
