Any of you heard of PIF ? No that's a Pay It Forward( where you give something to someone and ask that they pay it forward to someone else in small deeds of kindness! I have a few on both so feel free! I would love to share them with my friends her at RCB do let me know you got them from me on here! I will send something extra to my Beady friends ! Oh is this an add? umm yes guess so Grin I think my first real one ! For animal lovers I have 2 items for animal charities up (and one on Mom's )though Etsy for Animals ! Oh yes I a member of the Texas Team and while I am gone on Vacation on first Monday of May I be having a 20 Percent off sale (mine actually will last till I return but you have to also wait for the item so if you hunting for a gift but are not in a hurry, save me to favorites and check what I have first Monday in May or till I return! We are leaving for Florida April 30 wont be back for 20 days I believe ) Well guess I better go back to work listing something almost every day on mine and moms! Be Well and be happy

I may not be very good at selling things (and I may not be very good at making things either), but so far I have shied away from websites that charge me listing fees, selling fees and the like. I'm not selling a whole lot, but I don't have a lot of time to make or sell things either. I find that to some extent craigslist works for me, posting printouts of web pages on local poster boards, distributing business cards to like-minded people (and not going overboard with that - and my business cards are home-made.)

Is spending the extra money to list things somewhere that charges fees worth it?

I had an Etsy shop when the website was still semi-young. I like most everything about the website and the community that formed it. The saturation of 'handmade jewelry' being sold their (sometimes at prices that were unbelievable low) made it a hard sell for my things. I had Etsy in conjunction with my own website, plus I listed on a few other sites too. I sell/sold more in person than I ever do online. You have to REALLY sell yourself and your things at Etsy on the forums, personally I didn't have that much time to spend sitting at the computer writing endless 'for sale' ads everyday. And to be quite frank, I always saw more than one person practically pleading for someone to come and look at their 'stuff'...I don't do 'oh woe is me' very well...I'd rather sit at a craft/art show and let my art sell itself.
