I'll try calling her later on this evening, but I haven't heard anything in a day or two. She did say that she may have to be sent to a larger hospital, so I'm thinking that is what happened.

I'm alive and well. The ankle looks a little better even if it doesn't feel better. I'm pretty sick from the antibiotics even though I am eating before taking them. The doctors have me taking 4000 mg every day.

I start rabies shots next week. I was able to avoid them this week since the doctor's all have differing opinions. It seems that the vets can tell you rabies is incubated in dogs and cats for 10 days. On lemurs there have never been any studies so they don't know if they can be just carriers or how long they could incubate. Oh yeah! Therefore they would have to kill the animal to conclusively find out if it has rabies. I had a hissy fit even though I know how most people would feel. Ringo is not getting killed and his head is not being freeze dried.

DH is still snickering at me and asking if I have a tail growing yet. A funny thing is that I've been dreaming of monkeys two nights in a row. Of course I told him the first night it happened which cause more snickering.

I'm fine compared to others. Please send out vibes to all the others who need it. Tink, Candace, Sooz, and Kathy NV all come to my mind immediately.

The swelling is going down. It's still tender and sore but it's looking a little better. I'm staying off my feet as much as I can and doing house work in 30 minute intervals. (God I did say house work. Someone has got to do it and I've been severely slacking and making DH take the full weight of everything.) I'm taking a small spot daily cleaning and throwing out stuff we don't need. Today it was folding clothes which is another hated chore. DH finally figured out after 11 1/2 years of marriage that I must have had to fold clothes in the Army and I knew how to do it. Darn it, he figured it out.

Me, too, Starlia. I hope that you feel better really soon.

Starlia,

Acidophilus supplements or just eating some good quality low sugar yogurt will help with the tummy upset. Also help prevent a yeast infection later on.

Feel better soon!

rabies shots.....I have read some articles about rabies lately, we've had a lot of bats picked up by kids, and some had rabies. Like tetanus, this is something it is well worth the trouble to avoid getting, so take the shots, there's pretty good reason, it sounds like, and the alternative is as you said, freezedried Ringo.

so take the shots Starlia---we most of us saw "ol' Yeller", and nobody here wants to have to come shoot ya with the beadbead gun!

WHEW!!

Are you taking acidophilus? I would, and I'd be eating as much yogurt with live culture as I could possibly stand.

I'm so sorry about that! That really sucks (my niece was bitten by a mink and had to have them). I'm with you, though, in being happy that Ringo was spared

- the fact that his owner's keep him captive isn't his fault.

Plain yogurt is especially yummy with frozen strawberries that are nuked just enough to be slightly thawed. Ummmmmm.

And Starlia, I can't say I agree with you about Ringo, but I have to give you immense amounts of credit for getting the shots instead of the alternative. I hope that your friends learn their lesson and get proper veterinary care for their primate friends, so that no one else has to go through this horror.

Please tell your friends that if it were my child, I'd have Ringo's head mounted on my living room wall, and I'm sorry, but I'd sue them for as much I could possibly get. I don't think I'm in the minority, either. (If it were me, I'd skip the suing part, but my kid? Well, you know how attached I am to that kid)

Feel better, kiddo. We love you!

Starlia,

So glad to hear things are going well, and so glad to hear Ringo is going to be ok! I sure hope his people are going to get him the shots he should have.

You did tell them what happened, didn't you?

Because if this happens to another person I am sure the other person won't be as nice as you are.

Plus, they need to start getting proper care for their pets. (And thinking more about the proper way to get and keep pets. Sorry, but it's true... pets are a serious responsibility, not just a fun hobby!)

I'm doing easy housework. I can sit on the bed and fold clothes. It keeps the monotony of not doing a thing interesting.

I forgot about that. I'll get some yogurt later. Yummy.

I understand your feelings. I'm glad the shots aren't as bad as they were when I was a kid. I got bit by a skunk when I was four or five before my grandparents received custody of me.
