It's been a long time since we had a swap here. Anyone in the mood for a bracelet swap? I'm thinking deadline mid-December.

I could deal with a nice swap, but the timing is bad. How about Early January.

Sure!
Not a bad idea. A fun way to fight the winter doldrums, and it might be easier on those of us who are totally disorganized and always behind at Christmas!
How does the swap work?
I would much prefer January to December if I were to vote..

Me too... I'm in for either month, but January would probably be a little easier.
Are there any requirements on the bracelets? Do they have to be certain colors or done in a certain way? If not I might actually get in on this despite having almost no time to do any beading...
Marissa
I was curious about the details as well.................
I'm in.
me too!

What we did last time is get an assigned bracelet buddy. We then worked out all the details via email, each buddy "talking " to the other. I had a wonderful time, and Barbara (Penguintrax) and I made a real connection.

That sounds like fun! I haven't done anything like this for some time and I think I'd like to try this. January would be better but hey, I'm flexible............

Is your shopping done? I started mine at the beginning of September, have ordered everything online, and am about 80% done. All that will be left for me to do is to wrap a gift or two a day until the holiday. I haven't set foot in a store for Christmas shopping for at least three years. It takes too damn much out of me.
Even so, I finally twisted my siblings' arms into only exchanging gifts for the kids and our parents. We've also told our parents to not buy for us, just for the kids. Bob and I will probably buy one big gift for each other (thinking the new Tivo with the DVD burner built in, or a new television: our one has green flesh tones) at the after holiday sales.
This weekend, I have a child with a Math Project to supervise. I'll use the time to make a bunch of give away bracelets, which will come in handy over the holidays. If I have time/energy/inspiration, I'll make all the teacher gifts at the same time. (female teachers get jewelry, male teachers get a gift certificate to Blockbuster)
My biggest regret is that I am no longer able to decorate the Christmas tree. I've been collecting rare/fancy ornaments since I was a child, and I used to spend a couple of days every year, getting the tree exactly perfect. It's too much for me now, so DD and P/T D decorate the tree, with me doing some of the direction.
The only problem is that they suck at putting on tinsel. IMNSHO, tinsel should be put on carefully, strand by strand, and very sparingly (to accent my ornaments) No one else at my house subscribes to this theory, and the tree ends up looking like tinsel pigeons attacked it. :-)
But for tonight, I am chief candy inspector. DD and her friend Mel are going on one huge trick or treat hurrah. DD is going to wear the clownfish suit I made her a couple of years ago, and Mel is going as the Cat in the Hat. Mel's dog is going along as a pirate. Sophie is a jerk, so she's going to stay here with me, doped up with Clomicalm. By some miracle, I managed to go this afternoon to DD's School Halloween show (I'd have gone if I had to crawl there), and I'm totally pooped.
Funny thing about the show. Bob and I arrived at school after lunch, went to the auditorium, and found seats far away from the smoke machines. I didn't announce myself or say a word, but I was instantly covered with children. After about the fiftieth hug, I commented that I think those kids like me. Bob looked at me sarcastically and said, "Ya think?" (I like them, too) I was surprised and delighted to see one kid who got and nailed his entire part, even though he's severely autistic. He did beautifully, and I hope his folks got a chance to see their son shine.

Not before Christmas. And I personally am not interested in bracelets.
But, you're right, it's time to think about a swap again.
