Back Issues of Lapidary Journal

As one of the quieter members of the group, I find that I now need to creep out into the open and ask for some assistance.

I'm trying to locate the following back issues of Lapidary Journal:

October 1995 September 1999 March 2000 August 2001 March 2002

The above issues contain articles on raku beads and techniques - I'll gladly reimburse for copies or scans of the articles in question and the postage for same - I have the list of articles I'm looking for should anyone be able to help locate them.

Thanks so much,

Lori Northwest Illinois

I've cross-posted this on a couple of other groups, so if you've seen it already, act accordingly.....

Sorry if this sounds a little cranky - I've tried purchasing reprints of the articles - it's been 3 looooooong months since I ordered and paid for them and I'm a little steamed about not yet finding them in my mailbox after much emailing and playing phone tag with customer service and their statements that it should only take 4-6 weeks. ??????

Grrrrrrrr........

It's a good thing I'm a lady, dammit, or I'd just have to spit. :-)

Have you searched on eBay?

Big sigh........

Yes, I have and I can find very early issues and recent issues and lots containing several year's worth - seems to be everything BUT.

I have, however, saved that as a favorite search and will check it periodically.

A couple of months ago, the October 1995 issue was listed on eBay, but I got sniped and lost it.

Who'd have thought they'd be this hard to come by?

I'll keep searching, though - they're bound to be out there somewhere.

Thank you for the thought.

Do you have a local rock and mineral club? You might contact them and if one of their members can either sell you the mags or copy the articles for you. I assume you've already contacted libraries (public and college) for back issue availability, right? (You might also try getting hold of a teacher who teaches jewelry making at any local schools.) And the magazine publisher doesn't have the back issues?

Keep an eye out for rock/gem shows in your area, too. They often have back issues of mags available there...nevermind all the OTHER cool stuff you might find while searching.

And one more thought: isn't there a place on eBay where you can post something you are looking for? There used to be. I haven't used it in a long time, though.

Happy New Year Everyone!

Thank you so much for all your help.

I've been able to scrounge all the issues I've been hunting for. Guess this means that you can all stop looking now. However, if you're like me, you'll have found other forgotten treasures while digging through 'stuff'. Take care. Lori
