Bead and button show

I am having a great time dreaming about being able to come to the show and planning what workshops to do. Have a plan drawn up for each day and evening.

A question for those who have been. How exhausted do you get doing one or more workshops a day? Is it possible or do people take a few and complete their work between sessions.

A whole week to bead seems like a dream, plus to look at beads and meet beady people.

Cheers, Jan

Jan,

Depending on the class, you can be completely knackered by the end of the day. I"ve taken full-day classes that left me wasted, and I've taken

2 half-day classes in a single day and regretted not signing up for another for the evening. It all really depends. Plus, you want to leave time for yourself for shopping, getting to know people, etc.

If you have any questions about specific classes/teachers, feel free to e-mail me offlist or contact me via Yahoo Messenger or AIM and I'd be happy to weigh in an opinion.

Jan, I wouldn't sign up for too many classes for your first time at B & B. My first time there (when it was still in Portland, OR and still called "Embellishment"), I signed up for one 1/2 class and one full day class the following day. I was exhausted by the end of the second day. When I went to Milwaukee two years ago, I was surprised by the amount of walking you had to do just to get from the hotel to the convention center, which is huge. The overload of colors, shapes, people, etc. is very tiring. You are going to want to shop the show, see all the famous lampworkers, see what everyone else is doing/buying, vote for the Bead Dreams entries, buy souvenirs, etc. I also try to see something of the city - there's a fabulous art museum in Milwaukee. If I go again this year, and I'm planning on it, I will only sign up for one two day class or maybe two l/2 day classes. Leave yourself time to enjoy yourself. If you are young and in very good shape, you might want to sign up for several classes, but I definitely wouldn't sign up for both day and evening classes on each day. There are also great restaurants within walking distance of the hotel, and it's great to share dinner/drinks with fellow beaders. Have a wonderful time, and maybe we will get to meet! You can send me an email through my website if you like if you have any more specific questions. Patti
