I'm looking forward to meeting as many of you as possible. I know all of us will be taking classes, sightseeing, etc., but it will be fun to try to meet each other in person.

Jan in New Zealand is coming over and I know last year I met up with JC and Linda (Bluemaxx).

I am at the Hyatt as well. Did not make it into Bead Dreams but got the nicest encouraging letter to try again next year. They wrote that they were overwhelmed with the high caliber of excellence of all the work submitted so I am really looking forward to viewing the finalists.

I entered the non wearables with my own design, beaded NZ flowers. A bunch of Red Pohutukawa and white clematis in a sheath and yellow Kowhai by itself.

I have a notebook full of items I want to buy at B&B which are hard or expensive to get here, plus stalls to visit etc.

Internet is great for finding out things and I even can read the menus for restaurants. Not long to wait now.

Cheers, Jan

Su, We will. If I can tear myself away from the show, do you have any ideas about sightseeing? I've visited the Milwaukee Art Museum. My dh will be with me and looking for stuff to do while I'm in class. He's into railroading, not into brewery tours. I've heard there's a casino not too far away from the Hyatt. Any recommendations about restaurants (I love the Thai one across from the hotel) or stuff to do would be welcome. I'm going to try to squeeze in a day trip to Chicago, which I didn't have time to do last time. I must admit I let the tornado warnings - our town had just had one, a rare thing in NJ, scare me away from doing a lot of traveling last time I was there. Patti

Patti,

Go to Chicago and see the art, you will be glad you did so if you spend half the day in the Art Institute to see 'La Grande Jatte' if nothing else, and the other half in the Field Museum. They have a stunning gemstone/mineral collection there.

(King Tut's there from May 26, book early if you want to see it!) Get 'Ferris Buehler's Day Off' as research material for Chicago. Danke schoen, darling...!

Carla, That would be fabulous!! We will be there on Friday, June 16th. I need to go to the A.I. and maybe have some of Chicago's famous steak for dinner! I have classes on Saturday and Sunday, and the show opens on Thursday, so Friday is the only day I will have free. Are you working or could we meet after work? Of course, I have no idea where anything is....I'll just have to take cabs. All this is tentative, of course, but I'm really going to try to go. Patti (Beadseeker AT aol.com)

Barbara, I'll be there Thursday night for the show preview, Friday I'm going to try to go to Chicago, I have classes Saturday PM and Sunday A.M. until Noon. Maybe we can coordinate our schedules to meet sometime when we're not in class. Sorry your Saturday class was cancelled, what were you going to take? I'm really getting excited, I desparately need a vacation.

The Saturday class was with Lindly Haunauni. She cancelled all her classes - she can't attend the show due to a conflict.

I'll be there Sunday from 9-Noon for a class and will probably hit the show floor one last time before I leave.

Want to try and meet up for lunch or some shopping on Thursday? I usually make a loop through the whole floor, take notes, then go back and buy.

Let me know whatcha think...I think Jan wanted to meet up on Thursday night for the preview, too.

Jan, Meeting up prior to the Thursday night preview would probably be the best. I can't remember exactly when our plane gets in, but I think it's around 1PM. You sound more organized than I am. I have some definite stops to make on the show floor, all this depending on how much bead buying $$ I have.... We should be able to meet up at the tables (if they are still there) on the 2nd floor outside the show. I'm going to bring my purple Bead & Button bag from two years ago - I'm not into lime green and I've sort of promised that one to one of my Bead Sisters. Maybe we can exchange pictures or pick a landmark (?) or something....my picture is on my website...I don't really wear glasses that much now, but otherwise, I look the same. Looking forward to meeting you and Jan.

LOL, Jan!

hey all - we can exchange pics via e-mail later in the month and set up a place to meet. A good location is near the Milwaukee Bead Society Booth - they run a package check and it's VERY handy so you don't have to schlep too much through the show. I'll take you 'newbies' under my wing and thoroughly corrupt you at the show. :-D
